The results of a poll released on August 22 by the Pew Research Center showed that 3 out of 4 Russians surveyed, or 72%, said that Russia now plays a more important role in the international arena than it did 10 years ago. This figure was only 59% in 2017. It can be said that President Vladimir Putin's foreign policy has helped him win the trust of the Russian people.
With Russia’s intervention in Syria helping to prop up President Bashar Al Assad and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, 81% of Russians say they have confidence or a lot of confidence in the president’s foreign policy, further confirming a trend that has been in place since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. Confidence is growing stronger as Russia’s importance as a global power is erased, completely erasing any doubts.

Using equipment from the above companies could create vulnerabilities in the national telecommunications network, facilitating unauthorized intrusion or interference.
The notice did not specifically mention the Chinese companies by name. However, according to an unnamed official in the Australian government, the ban is mainly aimed at technology giant Huawei, preventing the company from participating in the 5G telecommunications network project.
The Turnbull government has also banned domestic companies from buying equipment from Huawei for the national fibre-optic cable network. The Chinese company has also been denied a license to lay submarine cables in northwestern Australia.
