(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 15th, in Cua Lo town, the Rescue and Disaster Relief Department of the General Staff organized a summary of training activities over the past five years (2011-2015).

Attending the conference was Vice Admiral Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.

Over the past five years, all agencies and units in the armed forces have thoroughly implemented the Resolution of the Central Military Commission, the Military-Defense Work Directive of the Chief of the General Staff, and the guidance of relevant agencies on rescue and relief training, covering general rescue and relief training, specialized force training, and combined training, as well as organizing exercises, competitions, and training courses.

Agencies and units have proactively conducted additional training outside of regular class hours and combined it with field training; they have effectively organized and implemented several new types of exercises. Training has been innovative and closely aligned with the practical needs of each unit.

The entire military organized 176 training courses on air and sea search and rescue, oil spill response, fire prevention and fighting, building collapse response, chemical and toxic radiation incident response, and inland waterway vessel operation; and 110 drills, competitions, and training sessions on flood and storm prevention, search and rescue, and forest fire prevention.

Through training, the quality of all aspects has been gradually improved, meeting the requirements of responding to and mitigating natural disasters and incidents, and conducting search and rescue operations, contributing to minimizing damage to people and property of the State and the people.

Outstanding in search and rescue training over the past five years have been Military Regions 4, 7, and 9, the National Center for Maritime Search and Rescue Training - Vietnam Navy, and the Central Oil Spill Response Center - General Department of Defense Industry...
