Images show Putin meeting with the head of the Supreme Court in Moscow on Friday, the Kremlin said. Russian state television also broadcast video footage of the meeting.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov sought to quell rumors about his health on Thursday, according to Russia's state-run Tass news agency.

Last fall, rumors also circulated about the health of North Korea's reclusive leader, Kim Jong Un, after he was absent from public view for more than a month. Eventually, he reappeared in North Korean state media.

Speculation about Putin's health began after a planned meeting between the Russian leader and the presidents of Kazakhstan and Belarus in Astana, Kazakhstan, was postponed.

Peskov confirmed on Wednesday that the leaders had agreed to postpone the meeting for a few days, but provided no information on a new date, Tass news agency reported.

The Kremlin press office said on Friday that Putin will meet with Kyrgyzstan's leader, Almazbek Atambayev, in the Russian city of St. Petersburg next Monday, Tass reported.

During his many years in power, Putin has cultivated an image of a strong and dynamic leader.

The Russian president has received international attention in recent months following Moscow's intervention in Ukraine, which has been linked to strained relations with Western countries.
