In her opening speech, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Chairwoman of the National Assembly, emphasized: “The 5th session of the 14th National Assembly takes place in the context of the country's situation continuing to change dramatically and achieving many positive results. The first quarter growth rate reached the highest level in the past 10 years, showing that economic growth this year continues to improve. However, the international and regional situation is forecasted to have many unpredictable developments, with many potential risks and complications. Therefore, we need to focus on maximizing existing potentials, maintaining macroeconomic stability, promoting production and business development, preparing scenarios to respond to and limit negative impacts from world fluctuations, ensuring sustainable economic development; continuing to ensure social security; rationally and effectively using resources, protecting the environment and proactively responding to climate change; strengthening national defense, security, foreign affairs, and maintaining sovereignty. national, promote anti-corruption work, practice thrift, fight waste"….

According to National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, in this session, National Assembly deputies will focus on discussing many important issues that are meaningful in promoting the country's socio-economic development. The National Assembly will spend nearly two-thirds of the session's time reviewing and approving eight draft laws and resolutions and giving opinions on eight other draft laws.
“These are projects and drafts of extremely important significance and are of great interest to voters to continue institutionalizing the Party's policies and guidelines, especially the Resolutions of the Central Executive Committee Conference and the 2013 Constitution, to protect human rights and citizens' rights, build and perfect the socialist-oriented market economic institution, strengthen the country's defense and security potential, reform the state apparatus to ensure streamlining, effective and efficient operations, and promote the prevention and fight against corruption and waste,” the National Assembly Chairman affirmed.
According to the plan, at this session, the National Assembly will listen to a report summarizing the opinions and recommendations of voters and people; listen to a report on the results of monitoring the settlement of voters' recommendations sent to the previous session; conduct questions and answers; conduct supreme supervision of the implementation of policies and laws on management and use of state capital and assets at enterprises and equitization of state-owned enterprises in the 2011-2016 period; consider and approve Resolutions on the Supervision Program and the establishment of the National Assembly's Thematic Supervision Delegation in 2019,...
On that basis, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked National Assembly deputies to uphold their sense of responsibility, promote intelligence, solidarity, democracy, focus on research, actively discuss, contribute to the success of the session, and meet the aspirations of voters and people nationwide.
