The Standing Committee of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee has disciplined three party members involved in economic violations.

On the morning of September 19, Working Group No. 6 of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, led by Mr. Phan Van Sau, Government Inspector General, inspected and supervised anti-corruption work in Quang Nam province.

At the meeting, Mr. Phan Viet Cuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, said that recently, the Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee has established 5 inspection and supervision teams for 7 Party organizations and 7 Party members related to corruption prevention and control work; directed the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee, the Standing Committees of localities and the Standing Committees of affiliated Party Committees to conduct inspections of Party organizations and Party members showing signs of violations.

Thereby, the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee discovered economic violations of more than VND8.2 billion, requiring the recovery of nearly VND4 billion; 15 party members who violated the regulations were disciplined with dismissal, warning, reprimand and expulsion from the Party. The Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee disciplined 3 party members related to economic violations.

The Standing Committees of District, Town and City Party Committees and Inspection Committees at all levels have reviewed and criticized one Party cell committee and disciplined 83 Party members. The Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, in coordination with local prosecution agencies, has inspected many serious and complicated cases that have attracted public attention; including 13 corruption cases and 9 economic cases. Thereby, 8 cases involving 16 individuals with economic and corruption violations were discovered, with a total amount of violations of nearly 1.7 billion VND.

Mr. Phan Van Sau, Government Inspector General, Head of the Working Group, said that since 2013, the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption has organized 32 working groups to conduct inspections and supervisions at 20 ministries, branches and 43 provinces and cities. Through inspections and supervisions, the Steering Committee has correctly assessed the current situation and discovered limitations and weaknesses in anti-corruption work at ministries, branches and localities in order to have appropriate solutions to improve the quality of anti-corruption work.

Mr. Phan Van Sau proposed to strengthen the fight, detection and handling of corruption cases.

“According to the Government’s assessment, the corruption situation nationwide is still serious and complicated, but the work of detecting and handling corruption is gradually decreasing in the number of cases and subjects. One of the reasons is that the leadership and direction of some Party committees and localities is not resolute, the handling of cases by prosecution agencies is not strict, many cases due to poor coordination have resulted in cases being annulled or files being returned many times, leading to prolonged settlement, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the fight against corruption,” Mr. Phan Van Sau emphasized./.
