Party discipline for former Chief Traffic Inspector
For allowing his subordinates to set up a truck protection ring and receive billions of dong in bribes, Mr. Truong Van Phuc was removed from all positions in the Party.

On September 29, the leaders of the Can Tho Department of Transport signed a decision to remove Mr. Truong Van Phuc, former Chief Thanh of this unit, from all positions in the Party.
As Party Secretary and Chief Inspector of the Department, Mr. Phuc was accused of lacking direction, inspection, and supervision, allowing seven Party members under his management to be convicted of bribery by the Can Tho City People's Court, affecting the reputation of the agency and the Party organization. Currently, Mr. Phuc has been transferred to work as an officer of another unit, under the Can Tho Department of Transport.
In addition, Mr. Tran Van Thanh and Mr. Bui Quoc Dung (both Deputy Chief Inspectors of the Department), Mr. Tran Minh Duong (Mobile Team Leader), Mr. Dinh Thanh Dien (Team Leader of Cai Rang District) and Mr. Le Van Hoang (Team Leader of Co Do District) were also disciplined by the Party with the form of reprimand for being jointly responsible as heads of departments for the violations.
Regarding this case, expanding the second phase of investigation, Can Tho Police have just arrested Bui Van Minh (alias Minh Den, Deputy Chief Inspector of Can Tho Traffic) to investigate the act of Receiving bribes. Mr. Minh is accused of receiving nearly 400 million VND to protect overloaded vehicles from passing the checkpoint.
In July, the People's Court of Can Tho City sentenced seven Can Tho traffic inspectors and two "brokers" for accepting bribes of more than 4 billion VND to protect a series of transport businesses for a long time.
Of these, Doan Vu Duy (former Head of Team 11) received life imprisonment; Duong Minh Tam (former Deputy Chief of Traffic Inspectorate) received 10 years in prison; Vo Hoang Anh (former Head of Team 3) received 15 years in prison; Ly Hoang Minh (former Deputy Head of Team 3) received 9 years in prison; "broker" Nguyen Van Can received 20 years in prison. Three other officials and "broker" Tran Tuong An each received 7 years in prison.
