(Baonghean.vn) -This morning (February 14th), the 5th day of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, at the Temple of King Quang Trung on Dung Quyet Mountain (Trung Do Ward, Vinh City), the Vinh City People's Committee solemnly organized the ceremony commemorating the 224th anniversary of the victory at Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da (1789-2013)...

Representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Fatherland Front, the City Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee, various departments, wards and communes in the city, representatives of associations, historical and cultural relics, temples and pagodas, Buddhist groups, the Ho family liaison committee, along with a large number of people and tourists from all over, attended the ceremony.

The speech delivered at the ceremony stated: Exactly 224 years ago (in the spring of the Year of the Rooster 1789), under the outstanding command of Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, tens of thousands of soldiers of the Tay Son rebels, wearing simple clothes and carrying red banners, carried out a lightning-fast march to Thang Long capital, defeating 290,000 invading Manchu (Chinese) troops and liberating Thang Long. The victory at Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da on the 5th day of the Lunar New Year in the Year of the Rooster 1789 is one of the greatest and most glorious victories in the history of Vietnam's resistance against foreign invaders, demonstrating the independent and self-reliant spirit of our people.

“Today, right here at the temple of Emperor Quang Trung, in the warm atmosphere of spring, we light incense sticks, joining in the resounding drums of the victorious battles of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da, recalling the great achievements of this national hero, reflecting on the indomitable struggle and the tradition of defending and building our nation… It is even more honorable and proud that Nghe An is one of the special locations where Emperor Quang Trung recruited troops to fight the enemy, the ancestral homeland, and also the strategic location he chose to build the capital of the Tay Son dynasty of Vietnam....”

At the commemoration ceremony, following a spectacular traditional martial arts performance by students of the Vinh City Youth Union's Nhat Nam Martial Arts Club, delegates, citizens, and visitors from all over offered incense and flowers to commemorate the contributions of Emperor Quang Trung and the Tay Son rebels. They also expressed their determination to uphold the fine traditions of their ancestors, working together to build a more prosperous and beautiful homeland, affirming the timeless truth: "History knows that the Southern nation has heroes and a true leader."

Earlier, a prayer ceremony for peace was held at the Quang Trung King Temple, conducted by the An Buddhist congregation, praying for Emperor Quang Trung and all the divine spirits to bless the nation with peace and prosperity, and for everyone and every family to be safe and happy. A representative from the Quang Trung King Temple Management Board stated that thousands of people visited the temple during the Tet holiday, offering incense and flowers.
