Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Border Guard of Nghe An province

On the afternoon of April 20, the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province held a meeting to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the traditional day of the Provincial Border Guard (April 23, 1959 - April 23, 2019).

Attending the event were Colonel Tran Hai Binh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard; Colonel Le Nhu Cuong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard; former heads of the Command and leaders of departments, offices and offices of the Provincial Border Guard Command through the periods and officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard Command.

At the ceremony, Colonel Tran Hai Binh reviewed the process of birth, development and heroic fighting of the Nghe An Border Guard force. In particular, the provincial Border Guard has made great contributions and sacrifices to the cause of protecting and building the homeland over the past 60 years.

Especially in the period from 1959 to 1986, forces were deployed to protect borders and seas, suppress bandits, suppress reactionaries, and carry out international missions with Laos; and fight against the US imperialists' war of destruction in the North of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In carrying out international missions with the Lao people, in 1968, Nghe An Border Guard sent 6 working teams of Division 56 to help Laos build forces and revolutionary movements, conduct guerrilla warfare, carry out military operations, build bases to protect the Lao revolution and prevent enemy infiltration into the province's border areas, contributing to building the special Vietnam - Laos friendship.

Since 1986, in carrying out the task of protecting the sovereignty and security of the border and sea areas, building the area and unit in the period of renovation, officers and soldiers of the Nghe An Border Guard have proactively and creatively applied the Party's domestic and foreign policies, strictly maintained the implementation of border agreements and regulations; effectively fought to prevent illegal border crossings; and promptly and properly handled activities that violate the sovereignty and security of the border and sea areas.

On the front of fighting against crime, Nghe An Border Guard has always been active, proactive, flexible in response, proficient in professional skills, focusing on improving quality and efficiency. In building a national border defense, the Provincial Border Guard has actively coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to build political bases, develop socio-economics, help people eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, achieving many good results...

In foreign affairs, the provincial Border Guard has coordinated with functional forces of Laos to maintain good implementation of Vietnam-Laos border agreements and treaties; completed the project of renovating and increasing the thickness of 116 border markers and 44 markers along the entire border adjacent to 3 provinces of Laos.

At the same time, maintain and effectively implement the twinning activities of 19 pairs of villages and 8 pairs of twinning between border posts and Lao military and police units, contributing to strengthening the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos in general and Nghe An with 3 Lao provinces sharing the border in particular.

On this occasion, the working delegation of the Provincial Border Guard Command and former leaders of the Command and leaders of departments, offices and offices of the Provincial Border Guard Command through the periods visited, exchanged and presented gifts to Hung Dao commune, Hung Nguyen district, which used to be the military base of the Provincial Border Guard Command in the period 1965 - 1966.
