Celebrating the 67th Anniversary of the Cuban People's Uprising Day

At the meeting, delegates looked back at the attack on the Moncada barracks by Cuban patriotic youths led by young lawyer Fidel Castro 67 years ago.

This event opened a new stage of development for Cuba, bringing the just struggle of the Cuban people to victory on January 1, 1959 - ending 5 centuries of colonial domination, gaining independence for the country.

With the immortal Moncada spirit, the noble international spirit and the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba headed by President Fidel Castro, the Cuban people have achieved many great achievements in education, health care, science and technology and social security, always demonstrating their resilience on their revolutionary path, making the people of the world admire them.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy - Chairman of the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association of Nghe An province emphasized that the event of patriotic youths carrying out the attack on the Moncada barracks has a particularly important meaning for the Party, Government and people of Cuba. The fact that the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association of Nghe An province organized the ceremony and meeting on this occasion once again affirmed the spirit of solidarity and attachment between the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples. Thereby, further strengthening the close relationship between the two Parties, the two States and the two peoples, which was cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and President Fidel Castro.

Recently, Vietnam has established international volunteer teams to transfer technology and breeds to help Cuba develop agricultural production. Cuba continues to help Vietnam in sugarcane technology, processing sugarcane by-products, consulting on construction and supervision of sports complexes, etc.

As an economic expert working in Nghe An, Mr. Alex Gonzades shared at the meeting: No matter the circumstances, in the minds of the Cuban people, Vietnam is always considered a loyal and extremely close friend. The solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba is always a great source of strength that helps today's generation have more motivation to overcome all difficulties to successfully build socialism.

Having worked in Nghe An and some provinces and cities in the North Central region of Vietnam for more than 5 years, Mr. Alex Gonzades hopes to have more opportunities in economic development cooperation with Nghe An. In particular, focusing on promoting and consuming Nghe An agricultural products to the international market in general and Cuba in particular.

At the meeting, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association of Nghe An province reviewed its activities in the first 6 months of the year and deployed tasks for the last 6 months of the year.

Accordingly, in the first 6 months of the year, the Association has well performed 6 key tasks set out in the work program of the Association Union and assigned by the Provincial People's Committee.

In the last 6 months of the year, the Association sets out 5 key tasks including:

1. Continue to expand economic development cooperation between Nghe An and Cuba.

2. Strengthen and supplement the Executive Committee to ensure good implementation of the Association's tasks.

3. In coordination with the Central Standing Committee of the Association, the Cuban Embassy in Hanoi organized a visit and working session with Cuban partners at the end of the year.

4. Preparing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 2020).

5. Prepare well for the 4th Congress for the 2021 - 2026 term.
