Over the past 70 years, under the leadership of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh and the outstandingly talented military leader - General Vo Nguyen Giap, the Vietnam People's Army, together with the entire people, has achieved great victories in the cause of national liberation, defending the Fatherland and fulfilling its noble international obligations.
Over the past 70 years, despite facing many harsh challenges, the Vietnam People's Army has always demonstrated the mettle of a revolutionary army born from the people and fighting for the people. Generations of cadres and soldiers have made great achievements that have glorified the history of thousands of years of building and defending the country, worthy of the noble title of Uncle Ho's Army and the heroic Army of the heroic Vietnamese people.
Today, the army is the core force in continuing to protect the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; creatively and effectively implementing socio-economic development programs and is the leading force in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue; dealing with the consequences of war and effectively implementing the military rear policy.
The Party, the State and the people have full confidence in the People's Army. Attaching importance to building a strong and comprehensive army, meeting the requirements of protection in peacetime, ready to win in all situations... are important messages that President Truong Tan Sang delivered at the ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army. One point of view emphasized in the President's speech was the lesson of our ancestors "Defending the country when it is not yet in danger" - this can be considered both a lesson and a doctrine for the task of strengthening national defense and security.
