Commemorating the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

On the morning of February 2nd in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the city of Hanoi solemnly organized a ceremony to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2015).

Also attending the ceremony were: former General Secretaries Do Muoi, Le Kha Phieu, and Nong Duc Manh; President Truong Tan Sang; former Presidents Le Duc Anh and Tran Duc Luong; Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An; Politburo member and Standing Secretary of the Central Committee Le Hong Anh; Politburo member and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan; Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi; along with many leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; representatives of leaders from central and Hanoi city departments, ministries, and organizations; veteran revolutionary cadres, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and Labor Heroes; representatives of the Diplomatic Corps; and a large number of representatives from all walks of life and the armed forces of the Capital.

The ceremony began with a special artistic program, featuring dances and songs imbued with love for the homeland, boundless pride and gratitude towards the Party and beloved Uncle Ho, expressing determination and unity under the leadership of the Party, steadfastly moving forward on the path of reform, building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

In his commemorative speech, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong reviewed the birth, training, contributions, and growth of the Communist Party of Vietnam, highlighting the profound historical significance of February 3, 1930, the official founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam. From this point on, our country's revolution had a correct line, and the Communist Party of Vietnam truly became the leader and organizer of all the victories of our revolution. The birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam was a great turning point in the history of our country's revolution, marking a glorious milestone on the path of our nation's development. Over the past 85 years, despite the sometimes winding and complex path forward, and despite the Party's occasional shortcomings and mistakes, thanks to its unwavering resolve, genuine humility, and open-mindedness, the Party has seriously engaged in self-criticism and correction of its errors. This has earned the trust and support of the people, enabling the Party to lead the Vietnamese revolution through all difficulties and challenges, achieving one victory after another, unstoppable by any force. Under the Party's leadership, our people have achieved miracles in the 20th century, culminating in the victory of the August Revolution of 1945; the victories of the national liberation wars and the defense of the Fatherland; and the victories of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process, steadily advancing towards socialism.

The General Secretary emotionally stated: Looking back at the glorious struggle of our Party over the past 85 years, recalling the difficulties, hardships, boundless sacrifices, and glorious victories that our people have achieved under the leadership of the Party, we cherish the past even more, treasure and preserve the achievements of the revolution, and are even more deeply grateful for the immeasurable contributions of the beloved President Ho Chi Minh; we understand, trust, and are even more proud of our nation - a heroic, intelligent, and creative nation; and we are proud of our Party - the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, wholeheartedly fighting and sacrificing for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.

The General Secretary affirmed: The rich practical experience of the Vietnamese revolution over the past 85 years has proven that the correct and wise leadership of the Party is the leading factor determining all the victories of our country's revolution; at the same time, it is in the process of leading the revolution that our Party has been tempered, tested, and constantly matured, gaining experience to become increasingly worthy of its role and mission in leading the revolution, worthy of the people's trust. In Vietnam, there is no other political force besides the Communist Party of Vietnam that has the courage, wisdom, experience, prestige, and ability to lead the country through all difficulties and arduous challenges to bring the nation to the shores of glory. And it is also in that process that our Party has accumulated and drawn many valuable lessons, forging glorious traditions that today we have the responsibility to strive to preserve and promote.

The General Secretary pointed out: Currently, the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are striving to implement the Party's Platform and the State's Constitution, comprehensively and synchronously promoting the cause of reform, industrialization, modernization, developing a socialist-oriented market economy, opening up to international integration, and fulfilling the two strategic tasks of building and firmly defending the socialist Fatherland, for the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization. The international context and the domestic situation, alongside favorable aspects and opportunities, also present many intertwined difficulties and challenges. This situation demands that the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army, more than ever, must highly promote the patriotic and revolutionary traditions, the spirit of solidarity and responsibility, and strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges to build our Fatherland into an increasingly dignified and beautiful nation.

The General Secretary emphasized: In recent times, our Party has devoted considerable time and effort to Party building, considering it a key task. Recently, the entire Party has conducted a campaign to build and rectify the Party in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 4 of the 11th Central Committee, achieving important initial results and experiences, contributing to preventing and pushing back negative phenomena, and enhancing the Party's leadership capacity and fighting strength. However, much work remains to be done in Party building; the general direction of Party building and rectification today is to continue to uphold fine traditions, maintain and strengthen the revolutionary nature and pioneering spirit of the Party, build a truly clean and strong Party in terms of politics, ideology, moral character, organization, and personnel, innovate leadership methods, strengthen the relationship between the Party and the people, and ensure that the Party is capable of leading the country's continuous development.

This year we celebrate the founding of the Party at a time when our country has undergone nearly 30 years of reform. This is a crucial historical period in our nation's development, marking the maturity of the Party, the State, and our people in all aspects. Reform has revolutionary significance and scope; it is a profound, comprehensive, and thorough transformation, a great undertaking of the entire Party and the entire people. Overall, after nearly 30 years of reform, our country has achieved tremendous achievements of historical significance. From a poor, backward country, heavily affected by years of war and embargoes, Vietnam has risen to achieve relatively rapid economic development towards industrialization and modernization, building a socialist-oriented market economy. The overall strength of the nation has increased significantly, creating new momentum and strength for the country to continue moving forward with promising prospects.

2015 was the final year of implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Party and the 2011-2015 five-year socio-economic development plan; the mid-term year of implementing the ten-year socio-economic development strategy; the year of organizing Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 12th National Congress of the Party; and a year with many major national holidays... The international and domestic situations created many opportunities and advantages but also posed numerous difficulties and challenges, requiring the entire Party, people, and army to make great efforts and demonstrate strong determination to successfully complete the tasks of 2015.

The General Secretary firmly believes that the Communist Party of Vietnam will excellently fulfill its responsibilities. The entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army will work together, united in purpose, to strive to build a peaceful, independent, unified, democratic, prosperous, and strong Vietnam, steadily advancing towards socialism.

At the commemoration ceremony, Party member Le Thien, with 70 years of Party membership, representing veteran revolutionary cadres, and Party member Nguyen Thanh Ha, representing the younger generation, delivered speeches expressing gratitude and pride in the glorious traditions of the Party, as well as their faith and determination to train, strive, and steadfastly follow the path chosen by the Party and beloved President Ho Chi Minh.
