Celebrating the National Day of Laos and Thailand

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 1st, Vinh University solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2nd, 1975 – December 2nd, 2015) and the 88th anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand (December 5th, 1927 – February 5th, 2015).

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Provincial Ethnic Affairs Committee, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province, and Vietnamese students from Laos and Thailand.

The speech at the commemoration ceremony affirmed the traditional friendship and solidarity between the Party, State, and people of Vietnam and Laos, and between the State and people of Vietnam and Thailand, which will "remain ever green and enduring for generations." To contribute to building the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos and Thailand, Vinh University is currently collaborating with these countries in training programs; the number of Lao and Thai students studying at the university is over 450.

Associate Professor Ngo Dinh Phuong - Vice Rector of Vinh University, delivered a welcoming speech on the National Day of Laos and Thailand.

Speaking at the ceremony, the leaders of Vinh University also expressed their hope that Lao and Thai students would continuously strive to study and train themselves to contribute to building their homelands and countries; and to contribute to building close friendships between Vietnam and Laos, and Vietnam and Thailand.

Awards were presented to international students studying at the school to commemorate the National Day of Laos and Thailand.

On this occasion, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province awarded 7 scholarships to international students who achieved excellent results in their studies and training during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Vinh University also awarded sports prizes to international students studying at the university to commemorate the National Day of Laos and Thailand.
