Ky Son during the dry season
(Baonghean)In Ky Son district during the dry season, water becomes scarce and precious. The sight of people waiting at water tanks or traveling 2-3km to carry water in cans back home has become commonplace...

The people of Huoi Le village, Huoi Tu commune, have to wait a long time at the reservoir before they can get water for their use.

The water is only for drinking and cooking; there isn't enough for bathing.

The villagers had to dig small holes next to the stream to "collect" the water.
Currently, nearly 90% of the villages in Ky Son district have clean water facilities, but due to the high mountainous terrain and scarce water resources, the flow is not strong enough. Furthermore, after many years of use, the pipelines, tanks, and taps have been damaged and deteriorated, with many tanks left unused. Mr. Nguyen Anh Doai, Head of the Industry and Trade Department of Ky Son district, said: “We are currently compiling statistics and planning repairs for the damaged and deteriorated clean water facilities, but it will take some time. Previously, when constructing the clean water facilities, we followed the wishes and suggestions of the people. Only after completion and with running water did we hand them over to the people. The people also need to be aware of protecting and maintaining the clean water facilities built in their villages to prevent damage...”
