According to Tho Nenh Dong, from 2013 until now, due to favorable consumption market and good selling prices, his family, as well as many other households in the village, have expanded the area of growing this plant. According to Tho Nenh Dong, from 3 taro fields, his family earns from 30 to 40 million VND annually.

Dooc May is a highland commune with a climate and soil suitable for growing taro, so in recent years, local people have expanded the area, now reaching over 15 hectares. Mr. Gia Chong Nhenh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dooc May commune, said: Previously, people grew taro to serve family meals, but since the day of convenient transportation, people have expanded the area, considering this a commodity crop, some households grow 3 - 4 sao, some families even grow nearly 1 hectare.
Unlike the taro varieties in the lowlands that only prefer to be grown on rice fields and humus-rich alluvial soils, Ky Son taro is not picky about soil, has a high drought tolerance, is less susceptible to pests and can be grown on steep hillsides. Especially after the swidden season, people take advantage of straw to make fertilizer for taro, which not only protects and prevents soil erosion, but also helps people make use of the land, reducing deforestation for swidden cultivation.

The quality of taro here is good, has a delicious taste, so it is very popular in the market.
The district has a project to expand the area of taro cultivation, for which TH Group has won the bid. This will be a condition for people to continue expanding the area, considering this a sustainable crop for hunger eradication and poverty reduction./.
