Ky Son: Passenger buses lined up on National Highway 7A

(Baonghean.vn) - Without a parking lot, every day more than 40 passenger buses and dozens of trucks still have to stop and park in the middle of the road or on the sidewalk along National Highway 7A through Muong Xen Town.

Ky Son is an active district and has taken many strong measures in directing and organizing the clearance of traffic safety corridors in recent times; in particular, in 2016, the People's Committee of Ky Son district carried out two peak campaigns to clear and handle hundreds of cases of traffic safety corridor violations.

However, the fact that Ky Son does not have a bus station is one of the main reasons why violations of traffic safety corridors in Muong Xen Town have not been thoroughly implemented. Without parking space, vehicles are forced to stop and park illegally on the roadside, causing disorder, obstructing visibility and causing traffic congestion during rush hours.

Discussing this issue, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tho - Deputy Head of Ky Son District Police shared: National Highway 7A section passing through Muong Xen Town is only 2km long but the number of vehicles and residents is densely concentrated. In the first 3 months of the year, the traffic police force has increased patrols to ensure traffic safety and order, recorded 735 vehicles, fined 583 violations, and paid more than 400 million VND to the state budget.

However, the district's failure to build a bus station has become a difficult problem for more than 40 passenger buses and dozens of trucks operating in Muong Xen Town.

Currently, the District People's Committee has submitted to the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee a plan to build a bus station on the land of the old Cultural Center (next to Muong Xen market) with a total investment of about 15 billion VND in the form of socialization, calling for investors to contribute all capital. However, up to now, the project is still in the process of seeking opinions from relevant provincial departments and branches.

To achieve long-term results in the work of clearing and restoring order in the traffic safety corridor, in the coming time, the People's Committee of Ky Son district needs to prioritize directing and completing necessary procedures; at the same time, it needs the attention and facilitation of relevant departments and branches, speed up the project appraisal process, and soon call for investors to build bus stations, contributing to 'solving the difficult problem' for Ky Son district.
