Russian engineers submerge T-90 tank in pool to test watertightness
A Russian T-90 tank was submerged in a tank for 20 minutes to test its watertightness at the Uralvagonzavod factory workshop.
Russia's Zvezda TV channel last weekend published a video of Uralvagonzavod factory engineers conducting a watertight test of the newly manufactured T-90 tank, according toSputnik.

In the video, engineers submerge a T-90 tank with the V-59 markings on its hull into a 5-meter-deep water tank in front of representatives of Uralvagonzavod and the Russian Ministry of Defense. A Russian engineer said the test is considered successful if the amount of water that enters the tank during the 20 minutes of immersion in the tank is less than 100 liters.
The Russian-made T-90 tank is considered one of the most modern main battle tanks today. When equipped with a snorkel on the turret roof, the T-90 tank can wade through water up to 5 meters deep, while the American M1 Abrams tank can only wade through water no deeper than 2 meters.
The vehicle is equipped with advanced active and passive defense systems, especially the Shtora-1 system that can neutralize enemy guided missiles. The T-90 is equipped with a 125 mm 2A46 M main gun with the ability to launch anti-tank missiles through the gun barrel. The vehicle is also equipped with a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and a 12.7 mm NSV remote-controlled anti-aircraft machine gun.
The most modern upgraded version of the T-90 is the T-90M, which has an automatic target tracking system and a more powerful fire control computer. The vehicle uses a new engine with a capacity of 1,300 horsepower.
