Legend has it that "Once upon a time, there was a village at the foot of this mountain, a rich and powerful family had a daughter, she was both beautiful and a good singer. She was beautiful, good-natured, everyone in the village loved her, even though her parents "forbidden her", she still found a way to have fun with her friends, then she fell in love with a boy in the village. Her parents forbade her from going out to contact the outside world. She had to live and die in that dark cave, many people in the village loved her very much, wanted to save her, but everyone was afraid of being implicated, so they had to keep it in mind. "Good news travels far, bad news travels far" that news reached the Jade Emperor, the Jade Emperor then ordered Nam Tao and Bac Dau to choose some talented people from heaven to come down and rebuild that cave to be beautiful, splendid, for Nang Man - a loyal, brave girl, devoted to the person she loved.
After days of living in a dark cave, hungry, cold, scared, and worried about her lover's life or death... she fell asleep. When she woke up, she saw the sunlight shining directly into the cave, the decoration was very beautiful. On the roof of the cave were scenes of flying dragons and dancing phoenixes, gentle stone silk curtains were hung up, there were stone beds, tables, chairs, paintings growing from the protruding cave walls, and there were even pieces of stone that when tapped on made magical sounds, helping her to dispel her misfortunes. After that, she gave birth and both of them turned to stone. The shape of mother and child hugging each other, the child's face looked up through the open space to the sky. As for the mother (Nang Man), her eyes were directed towards the main cave entrance, looking down at Yen Khe village with a face full of longing...
