Tire rotation techniques that any driver should know

After a period of running, tires will wear unevenly due to different forces and rotation frequencies. Therefore, tires need to be rotated to achieve the necessary balance and stability.

1. Tire rotation is one of the important maintenance activities because it can increase tire life, ensure safety when driving. Normally, the tire rotation process can be done by diagonal rotation, straight rotation or horizontal rotation, depending on the type of drive.

2The reason for periodic tire rotation is because the front and rear tires wear at different rates.

3. Normally, when you turn the steering wheel, friction will cause the front tires to wear faster. For front-engine vehicles, the front tires carry 60% of the vehicle's weight and act as the engine's power setting point, regardless of whether the vehicle is front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. Furthermore, the front wheels must bear 80% of the braking force, so the front tires wear faster than the rear tires.

4.The order of wear for a right-hand drive vehicle is heaviest on the right front tire, followed by the left front tire, the right rear tire, and finally the left rear tire.

5.For rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles, tire rotation order:

- 1st time (after 10,000km of driving): front left to back right, front right to back left.

- 2nd time (after 10,000km of driving): right rear goes before right, left rear goes before left.

- In addition, rear-wheel drive vehicles can adopt the full cross-rotation pattern. If the tire or wheel has grooves, the tire rotation should be straight. Conversely, if the tire has no grooves and is of different sizes, the tire rotation order will be on the same axle.

6.In case the car has a spare wheel, it will be replaced with the wheel that is worn the most and the replaced wheel will become the spare wheel.

7. For front-wheel drive vehicles, the spare wheel replaces the right front wheel but is mounted on the right rear wheel, the right rear wheel goes onto the left front wheel, the left front wheel goes onto the left rear wheel, and the left rear wheel goes onto the right front wheel.

8.Tire rotation intervals vary depending on the tire type and manufacturer's instructions, but most manufacturers recommend rotating tires every 8,000-10,000 km.
