They are often used to treat aches and pains in the joints during cold weather, excessive sweating in the hands and feet, and slow-healing boils.
Piper lolot leaves are commonly used raw as an herb or as a seasoning in soups. Besides being a leafy vegetable, piper lolot leaves are also used as a medicinal remedy for many ailments. They can be used fresh, dried, or sun-dried. According to modern research, piper lolot leaves have good antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic effects.
Medicinal remedies using betel leaves:
Hand ringworm: Take a handful of betel leaves, wash them thoroughly, crush them, and extract the juice. Drink the juice all at once. Put the remaining pulp in a pot, add three bowls of water, and boil well. Remove the pulp and set it aside. Use the warm decoction to wash the ringworm area, dry it, then apply the pulp as a poultice and bandage it. Do this 1-2 times a day for 5-7 consecutive days until cured.

Sweaty hands and feet: Take 30g of fresh betel leaves, add one liter of water and boil, then add a little salt. Let the water cool to a warm temperature and soak your hands and feet in it. Do this once a day before bed for good results.
Boils: 15g each of Piper betel leaves, lemon leaves, Alocasia leaves, and Perilla leaves. First, take the inner peel of a lemon tree (discard the outer peel), dry it, grind it into a fine powder, and sprinkle it on the affected area. Then, wash and grind the above herbs, apply them to the boil, and bandage it. Apply once a day for 3 days.
Joint pain: Take 20g of Piper betel leaves, 12g of Angelica sinensis, and 16g of Acanthopanax senticosus, decoct with 400ml of water until only 100ml remains, divide and drink throughout the day. Drink continuously for one week.
Alternatively, take 15g of Piper betel leaves, 15g of Elephant's ear root, 15g of Cynodon dactylon root, and 15g of Citrus aurantium root, slice thinly, and stir-fry until golden brown. Boil with 600ml of water until only 200ml remains, and drink three times a day. Continue for one week. Or, take 5-10 dried Piper betel leaves or 15-30g of fresh Piper betel leaves, boil thoroughly with water, and divide into 2-3 doses to drink throughout the day. Continue for one week.
Stomach ache due to cold: Wash 20g of fresh Piper betel leaves, boil with 300ml of water until only 100ml remains. Drink the decoction while it is still warm, preferably before dinner. Use continuously for 2 days.
Swollen and painful knee: Take 20g each of fresh Piper betel leaves and Artemisia vulgaris, wash them thoroughly, crush them, add hot vinegar, and apply as a compress to the swollen and painful knee.
