Successfully towed fishing boat, handed over 7 fishermen in distress at sea

(Baonghean.vn)- At noon on January 2, Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station (Quynh Luu) coordinated with Coast Guard 3005 - Coast Guard Region 1 Command to organize a handover ceremony for fishing boats and fishermen in distress at sea.

Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station (Quynh Luu) went to the tugboat position to bring 7 crew members ashore.

Accordingly, at 6:45 a.m. on December 31, 2016, the wooden boat with the code NA 94039 TS, captained by Mr. Vu Van Quang (born in 1992), residing in Hamlet 2, Son Hai Commune (Quynh Luu), and 6 fishermen were fishing at coordinates 18 degrees 56 minutes north latitude, 106 degrees 20 minutes east longitude, when unfortunately the net got entangled in the propeller and could not operate.

The crew dived down to the sea to remove the net but failed and the ship sent out a distress signal. At 1:30 p.m. on January 1, 2017, Coast Guard ship 3005 - Coast Guard Region 1 Command approached the ship in distress.

At 10:30 a.m. on January 2, 2017, the Coast Guard ship towed the distressed ship 1.5 nautical miles southeast of Lach Quen Control Station; Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, Provincial Border Guard sent a working group to dispatch a canoe to bring the crew members safely ashore.

Mr. Vu Mui - a fisherman on the boat said: "After leaving Lach Quen port to go fishing about 40 nautical miles, unfortunately we encountered bad weather, strong seas, causing the fishing net to drift towards the propeller, getting stuck and the system stopped working. Fortunately, the Coast Guard ship arrived in time to rescue us and towed us safely to shore"./.
