The bad background of the 3 gold shop robbers in Son La
After 2 hours of pursuit, at 9:30 p.m. on September 20, Son La Provincial Police arrested 3 suspects who robbed a gold shop in Son La City.
At the investigation agency, the subjects confessed their names to be Tran Ngoc Ha (37 years old), Nguyen Van Tien (32 years old) and Pham Ngoc Khanh (31 years old), all residing in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province.

At the scene, the investigation agency discovered and seized a number of exhibits including 2 pistols (1 pellet gun and 1 electric gun), 2 sharp knives, 1 red-gray travel bag containing a pair of white wool gloves, 2 wigs, 2 human skin masks, 50 iron balls and a number of other objects. In addition, there was a car with license plate 29A - 870.70.
Previously, at 8:30 p.m., taking advantage of the time when the homeowner was cleaning up and tallying the books at the end of the day, a group of three armed men broke into Truong Ky gold shop, Group 12, Chieng Le ward, Son La city, Son La province, with the aim of robbing property.
The subjects used guns and knives to control and force the gold shop owner to hand over money and gold. Subject Pham Ngoc Khanh used a gun (an air gun that shoots ball bearings) to control Ms. Phuong (the homeowner), subject Nguyen Van Tien used a knife and a handgun (an electric gun) to control and force Mr. Nguyen Van Trai (Ms. Phuong's husband) into the bathroom.
Subject Tran Ngoc Ha held a pistol (electric gun), a sharp knife and a travel bag while controlling Ms. Phuong.
At this time, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (37 years old, the real brother of Mr. Nguyen Van Trai who lives across the street) came to help but was threatened by Khanh with a gun so Mr. Tuan did not dare to go in.

After receiving the information, the functional forces of the Provincial Police and Son La City Police deployed to block off the scene and arrest the subjects. With the support of the masses, the two subjects, Tran Ngoc Ha and Nguyen Van Tien, were arrested on the spot, while Pham Ngoc Khanh fled by taxi to near the Mai Son District Bus Station. Khanh got out of the car and went to the Long Thanh gold shop in Sub-zone 20, Hat Lot town, Mai Son district, to sell a square ring for 13 million 150 thousand VND.
Khanh then paid 350,000 VND for the taxi and took another taxi. At around 9:40 p.m., he was arrested in Co Noi commune, Mai Son district. It is known that Khanh had 4 previous convictions, 1 for extortion and theft, and was sentenced by the People's Court of Phu Tho province and Tam Duong district, Vinh Phuc province. He was released from prison in October 2017. Tran Ngoc Ha had 1 previous conviction for theft and was released from prison in May 2016. This was also the subject who committed 2 thefts at this gold shop in 2016 right after being released from prison.
