On the morning of September 13, Mr. Ho Ngoc Dong (born in 1986), an ambulance driver of the 115 Nghe An Emergency Transport Team, said that after receiving the order, at 1:57 a.m. on the morning of September 12, he and a medical staff member named Nguyen Trung Kien (born in 1990) set off.

“I knew this was an emergency so I drove at high speed to quickly get to the Phuc Tho Commune Health Station. However, it was dark and raining heavily, and there were no signs on the road to Phuc Tho Commune, so I got lost,” Dong explained.

Mr. Dong recounted the incident.

Accordingly, Mr. Dong drove the 115 ambulance with license plate number 37A-125.71 at 1:57 am. However, it was not until 2:34 am that the vehicle arrived at the medical station, meaning it took nearly 40 minutes to travel a distance of more than 10 km.

“When the ambulance arrived at the medical station, the pregnant woman was purple and unconscious. At 2:38, the ambulance moved from Phuc Tho station to Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, but the victim had already died. When I took the pregnant woman to the car, I ran as fast as I could, but in the end, I still couldn’t make it in time,” said Mr. Dong.

When talking about the 40-minute journey to pick up the patient, driver Dong admitted: “I admit that it was still slow, compared to normal, I was about 10 minutes slower. It was raining heavily, there was no one to ask, it was very difficult to find the way by phone because there were no signs, and when we got close to the clinic, the family came to pick us up. If it had been daytime, I would have arrived earlier…”.

It is known that Mr. Dong has nearly ten years of driving experience and more than two years of driving an ambulance for Nghe An 115 Hospital.

Previously,as reported by Nghe An newspaper, at about 7:00 p.m. on September 11, pregnant woman Nguyen Thi T. (born in 1984), residing in hamlet 8, Phuc Tho commune, Nghi Loc district, had abdominal pain and was taken to the medical station by her family.

After examination and monitoring, at 11:30 pm the same day, the doctor took the mother to the delivery table. After 30 minutes, the mother gave birth to a baby boy weighing 4.1 kg. At this time, both mother and child were healthy and normal.

However, about 40 minutes later, the pregnant woman T. complained of fatigue and started bleeding. At that time, the doctor gave her an IV and also injected her with a hemostatic drug. Seeing that the pregnant woman had signs of hemorrhage, the doctor called an ambulance 115 to transfer her to Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

However, the mother had died before. It is known that this is the second time that mother T. gave birth. The first child was born naturally at the commune health station. Currently, the newborn baby is in normal health.

This morning (September 13), the family held a funeral for the victim according to local customs.
