(Baonghean) - Coming to Khun village, Chau Hoi commune (Quy Chau), we had the opportunity to meet party members and front officials who are considered by the local people as the "nuclei" of the village. With enthusiasm and exemplary character, they have harmoniously handled village and national affairs; customary law and legality; made people believe and listen to what they say; contributed to building a prosperous life and a cultural village.

Khun village has 208 Thai ethnic households nestled peacefully under the lush green forest canopy of the Quy Chau highlands. The life of the highlanders in general, and Khun village in particular, is still difficult. But coming to this land, what left the most impression on me was the spirit of solidarity, optimism, everyone working hard, striving step by step to escape poverty. All of this paints a picture of life full of fresh colors. Comrade Vi Thanh Dan - Party cell secretary, head of the village front work committee could not hide his joy when he affirmed that this year the whole village continued to have a good rice harvest. That joy is understandable, because as the secretary said, just a few years ago, due to farming practices and people's awareness, rice productivity was very low.

“There must be a change”, that is the constant thought and concern of Secretary Dan and the party members. The Khun village Party cell discussed and organized an expanded meeting with organizations to mobilize people to change their production habits, creating an economic breakthrough. In order to have a change, party members and members of the village Front Work Committee are the exemplary “nuclei” to implement first, then mobilize people to follow the motto: “make people believe, tell people to listen”. Words go hand in hand with actions, Secretary Dan’s family not only focuses on intensive farming, increasing rice productivity on the family’s fields, but also raises pigs, chickens, and goats; receives protection and care for more than 5 hectares of forest, so life is very stable.

The method of "setting an example and mobilizing" has created a great spread among the people. Therefore, in recent years, people in Khun village have changed the structure of rice varieties in the fields, taking care of them with the right techniques and seasons. Not stopping there, the village also mobilized people from each household to contribute 200,000 VND each year and organized them into 3 production teams to repair and solidify temporary and degraded canals. Therefore, in recent crops, rice productivity has always reached 60 - 70 quintals/ha, bringing joy to the people after each crop. As for comrade Lu Kim Thanh - Village Chief and Deputy Head of the Front Work Committee, his joy comes not only from the golden seasons of the people but also from the people's awareness that has fundamentally changed their business thinking. Looking at the vast green acacia forests, he recalled: “In the past, people only knew how to look at the fields, while there were still many areas of land left fallow but not organized for production to increase income. But now it is different, most people no longer wait or rely on others but are very active in economic development”. According to statistics, Khun village currently has 21 hectares of sugarcane; the area of acacia plantation is up to 178 hectares, promising to bring in a significant source of income.

As for comrade Vi Thi Nhung, head of the Women's Association of the village and member of the Front Work Committee, in recent years, as the head of the association, she has mobilized 158 members to collect scrap and sell it to raise funds to set up a fund for poor members to borrow capital. After 4 years of implementation, the association has a fund of 4 million VND. "Every year, the association organizes a vote and lends capital to poor women for production. This year, we have had 2 members borrow 1 million VND each to buy breeding pigs," said comrade Nhung. Not only supporting livelihoods, under the leadership of Ms. Nhung, the women's association of the village has always been at the forefront of the movement to build a cultural lifestyle and preserve the traditions of the Thai people. On holidays and Tet, women in the village wear traditional Thai costumes and organize cultural and sports activities. Notably, this year, the Khun village art troupe was honored to perform at the Hang Bua Festival (Quy Chau).

Comrade Lang Thanh Duyen - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quy Chau district assessed: “The comrades in the Khun Village Front Working Committee have demonstrated the responsibility of a party member and a front cadre. The specific and practical actions of the comrades have created trust and prestige in the community. Thereby, the comrades have contributed to building a strong grassroots Party cell and political system; accelerating the pace of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and building a cultural life at the grassroots level. Therefore, in the preliminary review of 3 years of implementing Directive 03, the Khun Village Party Cell is one of 12 collectives receiving a certificate of merit from the Standing Committee of the Quy Chau District Party Committee”.
