Clarifying suspicions of drug-addicted youth beating grandfather to death with a stick

Police are investigating a case of a young man suspected of being high on drugs who beat his grandfather to death with a stick after coming home drunk.

Dong Hung District Police (Thai Binh Province) said that the information that a young man showing signs of being high on drugs used a stick to beat his grandfather to death is not accurate, and authorities are investigating to clarify the matter.

According to initial information, at around 5:30 pm on July 7, in Phu Chau commune (Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province), a tragic incident occurred in which a grandson beat his grandfather to death.

The victim was Mr. Dang TH (born in 1935, residing in Phu Chau commune (Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province).

The subject was detained by the people and handed over to the police.

The subject was identified as Dang Tat Thuan (born in 1993) who, after coming home drunk, caused a disturbance and damaged furniture in the house.

At this time, seeing that his grandson was drunk, Mr. H. (born in 1935, Thuan's grandfather) intervened and advised Thuan to rest and sober up, but Thuan hit him with a wooden stick, causing serious injuries.

Immediately after the incident, the victim was taken to Dong Hung District General Hospital by local people for emergency treatment. However, due to severe injuries, Mr. H. died.

After the incident, Thuan was urgently arrested by the police.

Before the above incident, some information appeared that Thuan had used crystal meth before committing the above act.

On the afternoon of July 8, Mr. Bui Duc Thinh, Head of Dong Hung District Police, Thai Binh Province confirmed the above incident and said that the police have arrested the subject to serve the investigation to clarify the cause of the incident.

Mr. Thinh added that the information on social media about the young man showing signs of being high on drugs is unfounded and therefore inaccurate. Thuan was not high on drugs. The initial cause of death of Mr. H. (Thuan's grandfather) was that Thuan beat him to death with a stick.

According to investigation information, on the afternoon of July 7, after coming home drunk, Dang Tat Thuan (born in 1993) caused a disturbance and used a wooden stick to beat his grandfather, causing his death.
