When passing by Ms. Thao's sugarcane juice shop, Mr. Trinh Van Tam stopped his car on the side of the road and invited his two girlfriends, Xuan and Anh, to come in and drink some sugarcane juice. Ms. Xuan said: "I just finished drinking some juice, my stomach is full so I won't drink anything, now I just want to go home and rest..."

Mr. Tam asked his girlfriend to get in the car to take Ms. Anh and Ms. Xuan home. At that time, Mr. Ho Quang Thien was sitting drinking sugarcane juice with a group of young men living in Nghia An commune and said: "Little sister, come here to drink sugarcane juice with us...why are you going home...". Thinking that Trinh Van Tam had insulted everyone, Ho Quang Thien said: "He cursed away." Nguyen Xuan Sang, who was sitting drinking sugarcane juice, stood up and shouted: "Chase after him and beat him to death." After saying that, Sang took his motorbike with license plate number 47B1-881.87 and drove Truong Duy Thanh after Tam's motorbike. Then Le Dinh Hoang, Tran Ngoc Tai, Pham Dinh Nghia and a group of friends chased Trinh Van Tam, blocking the motorbike to beat him. While swerving, Tai's motorbike passed Tam's motorbike for about 30m and then fell. Tam turned his motorbike to the right side of the road to avoid Tai's motorbike. At this time, Nguyen Xuan Sang turned his motorbike to the right and the front wheel of Sang's motorbike hit Tam's motorbike.

The strong collision, combined with the high speed, caused Trinh Van Tam and Nguyen Xuan Sang's motorbikes to fall onto the road. At that time, Nguyen Thi Anh and Phan Thi Xuan also fell onto Tam's motorbike on the right side of the road. When Xuan fell, her head hit the hard ground on the side of the road, leading to her death on the way to the emergency room. Seeing Xuan, Anh and Tam lying motionless on the right side of the road, Nguyen Xuan Sang and his accomplices quickly got on their motorbikes and disappeared into the night.
