(Baonghean) - Unlike previous years, the communal activities of Tan Yen hamlet, Tan Phu commune (Tan Ky district) had to be held in borrowed houses. Since the hamlet's cultural center was inaugurated (late 2012), the people of Tan Yen hamlet have a place to organize community activities. Nguyen Tu Nguyen, Secretary of the Tan Yen hamlet Party branch, Tan Phu commune, happily stated: "The Party branch mobilized the people to donate and support the construction of the cultural center - an essential need of the hamlet."

In 2012, the Party Branch and the Party Committee of Tan Yen hamlet unanimously agreed on the plan to build a community center. The Party Branch's plan was implemented through neighborhood groups and hamlets, with public meetings held to discuss and gather opinions from the people in an open and democratic manner. The plan to build the hamlet's cultural center was well-received by the people; everyone found it reasonable and followed suit. The people in the hamlet contributed 400,000 VND per household, Tan Phu commune provided 20 million VND, and Song Con Sugar Company contributed 10 million VND. Tan Yen hamlet successfully completed the construction of the cultural center along with its facilities, worth nearly 500 million VND. This is the result of mobilizing and utilizing the people's internal strength, a practice the Party Branch learned from President Ho Chi Minh's ideology.

Saving money to build essential infrastructure and public facilities is a practice voluntarily undertaken by residents in the hamlets of Tan Phu commune, Tan Ky district. In the 2011-2012 school year, Tan Phu Kindergarten mobilized its staff and teachers to donate over 15 million VND to build infrastructure. Similarly, Tan Thai hamlet mobilized residents to contribute over 200 million VND to build a community center. Party members in the branch contributed to furnishing the meeting hall with tables and chairs. Tan Luong hamlet mobilized residents to contribute money and labor to build a community center… Along with these are many acts of kindness, such as mobilizing residents to donate 8 million VND to plant trees at the commune's Martyrs' Memorial. The entire commune contributed over 13 million VND to the Charity Fund, over 10 million VND to the Fund for the Poor, and over 200 man-days of labor… to repair a solidarity house, support poor students, help the poor stabilize their lives and gradually rise out of poverty…

To ensure that the "following Uncle Ho's example" movement goes deeper and spreads wider, the Party Committee of Tan Phu commune, with each commune official and Party member, saves 1-2 days' worth of salary to help those in difficult circumstances. All departments, agencies, and mass organizations have registered to implement the "following Uncle Ho's example" with practical actions such as: the Veterans Association has a revolving fund model; the Women's Association has a savings model for poor women, building shelters of compassion; establishing 12 waste sorting clubs; and environmental protection and care, all of which are well implemented by the branches. The Elderly Association mobilizes mutual support; the Youth Union effectively undertakes youth projects and tasks; and the Farmers' Association promotes the "Excellent Farmers in Production and Business" movement. Besides rubber tree cultivation, farmers in the commune have also expanded models of intercropping melons with rubber trees, growing sugarcane, developing livestock farming, and providing services… Many officials and Party members in Tan Phu have demonstrated diligence, hard work, dynamism, creativity, and boldness in transforming the economic structure, actively applying scientific and technological advancements to agricultural production, helping many households in the commune escape poverty and creating stable jobs for many local workers…

Comrade Nguyen Thi Hue, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tan Phu commune, Tan Ky district, said: “The commune's Party Committee always proactively issues resolutions to lead socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security. At the same time, we assign Party members to be in charge of Party branches and hamlets, always listening to the thoughts and aspirations of the people and helping them resolve difficulties and obstacles in their lives, creating a close relationship between Party members and the people. Thanks to this, the lives of the people in Tan Phu have continuously improved and been enhanced. The poverty rate in the commune in 2012 was only 3.5%, and the average per capita income reached 20 million VND/year, contributing to making Tan Phu commune one of the leading units in the movements of Tan Ky district in recent years.”
