Making 'lottery prediction' videos to fraudulently sell lottery results on Youtube
(Baonghean.vn) - After "magically" creating videos with "lottery prediction" services, the subjects posted them on Youtube channels to attract customers to buy and sell numbers with high winning rates. With this trick, many customers fell into the trap and spent a lot of money on the subjects.
The Criminal Police Department (Nghe An Police) said that the unit has just issued a decision to prosecute the case of Fraudulent appropriation of property, prosecuting 5 subjects: Duong Cong Cuong (born in 1982); Tran Van Nguyen (born in 1993); Tran Van Thai (born in 1991), all residing in Hamlet 7, Ngoc Son Commune, Quynh Luu District; Nguyen Tien Toan (born in 1996, residing in Hamlet 12, Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District) and Nguyen Quoc Hoc (born in 1996, residing in Hung Son Hamlet, Dien Lam Commune, Dien Chau District).

The trick of the subjects is to pretend to be able to "predict lottery results" and predict lottery results to give numbers to scam and steal customers' trust. The subjects create or rent Youtube channels and then post "predicting lottery" videos for customers to watch. After the Northern lottery results are available, the subjects use computers and microphones to make videos commenting on the lottery results of that day, predicting the winning numbers of the next day with attractive advertisements "high accuracy rate"; "sure to win".
In the content and description of the video, the subjects leave their phone numbers for customers to contact. For customers who want to buy these numbers, after contacting the subjects via zalo, they will be asked to pay money into a bank account. These are the accounts that the subjects buy online to serve the purpose ofCheat.
After a period of establishing a project to verify and monitor, the Anti-Crime Police Team used technology to understand the rules of operation, gradually exposing the methods and tricks of the subjects. Accordingly, the Project Team divided into many working groups to coordinate with the police of Ngoc Son and Son Hai communes (Quynh Luu district) and Dien Lam commune police (Dien Chau district) to conduct raids, simultaneously arrest and search the residences of the subjects. The police force seized 4 laptops, 14 phones, 2 sound and microphone sets, 1 car, 19 ATM cards inside with nearly 400 million VND.
In the past 2 years, criminals who use this method to swindle and appropriate property have become more and more sophisticated, while the number of customers seeking them has increased, all of whom are gambling addicts.
Despite knowing they were scammed, they did not report it and hid from the authorities. This group of people used private rooms and groups on Youtube, and customers had to pay weekly or monthly fees to hide from the authorities, which made the investigation difficult.
