Lam Vinh Hai: 'I left all my assets to my ex-wife after the divorce'

The dancer said he is rebuilding his career after a messy split with his wife of 11 years - Ly Phuong Chau.

- Why have you been silent for so long since you broke up with your ex-wife last August?

- As a public figure, I know that when there is a scandal, there will be people who love and people who hate, so it is best to keep quiet. Besides, I am a man, I do not want to speak up to argue or explain anything. Moreover, I think that if I speak up, people will not believe me. How I am and how I live, my loved ones understand and trust me, that is enough.

- The fact that you publicly announced your relationship with model Linh Chi after your divorce caused you to receive a lot of criticism. What do you say about this?

- Many people said that my public relationship with my new lover pushed things to an uncontrollable level. But I don't regret what I did. The only thing I regret is not being able to keep a proper family for my daughter.

I and the two women related to me all have their own views and feelings and need to be respected. I have never interfered with the feelings and words of Linh Chi or Ly Phuong Chau. However, they will have to take responsibility for their recent statements.

- What do you do to make up for your daughter's feelings?

- I am sorry for being away filming in Nha Trang all the time and not visiting my child much. Phuong Chau reminded me of this. I explained that I was busy with work and did not want to neglect my child. As for my parents' separation, I do not know how my ex-wife will share it with her. I think Ky Ky - our daughter - is still too young to understand the complex issues of adults. I will wait until she is mature enough and talk directly so that father and daughter can understand each other better.

- How is your relationship with your ex-wife now?

- At first, when we first broke up, we still hoped to work together and maintain a friendship. However, when the scandal broke out, cooperation was more difficult than I thought. Chau is no longer my manager as planned. I left everything that belonged to our common assets, such as the MTE dance group, to Chau. If anyone contacted me about work related to the group, I also told them to call Chau. In other words, toh start everything with empty handsWe have only one common concern left.Ky Ky.

- What difficulties did you encounter when starting everything over at the age of nearly 30?

- I admit that my work has gone downhill a lot. Before, I had a dance troupe, my ex-wife managed everything so I was comfortable and only needed to focus on my profession. Now I am alone, back to zero, of course everything is not easy anymore. However, I try to overcome this period by practicing dancing again so that I can return to my role as a dancer. I appreciate anyone who remembers me and calls me for shows during this time.

In addition, my acting career has improved a lot. I just finished the movie Mother-in-law, which is expected to be released at the end of the year. Hopefully this role will mark a different Lam Vinh Hai compared to before. However, no matter what, I will not give up my dancing career, which is my passion.

- As an amateur actor, what difficulties do you encounter when acting in new movies?

- In the movie Mother-in-law, I play the role of Mr. Hai Nhat, who is mildly mentally ill and has the soul of a 9-10 year old boy. He has two beautiful wives played by Lan Khue (first wife) and Midu (second wife). Because I am naive, I always see them as older sisters and have no romantic feelings.

The character doesn't need much dialogue, which is a blessing for me because I'm of Chinese descent and can't speak Vietnamese clearly. This isn't a main role, but it's a challenge because I need to express my inner self more. My face is quite angular, which can easily give off a fierce feeling. To have a gentle appearance that suits the role, I cut my hair short and ate constantly to gain six kilos.
