The first national Don ca tai tu festival taking place from April 20-25, 2014 in Bac Lieu will hold the first contest "Talented Don ca tai tu beauty".
On the afternoon of January 9, 2014, in Hanoi, the Organizing Committee of the first National Don Ca Tai Tu Festival - Bac Lieu 2014 officially announced the program and content of the Festival.
The first national Don ca tai tu festival took place in Bac Lieu city (Bac Lieu) from April 20 to 25, 2014 with the theme Don ca tai tu, Love of people - Love of the Southern land, including 21 activities such as: Trade-Tourism Fair, Southern Food Festival, Art program honoring composer Trong Nguyen and composer Yen Lang, Vintage car performance, Opening of art photo exhibition, Summary and awarding of the contest of composing vọng cổ songs and composing new lyrics for 20 original Don ca tai tu songs of the South, Grand concert "Colors of Southern melodies", inauguration of the project to expand the Memorial Area of Don ca tai tu art of the South and musician Cao Van Lau, final round of the contest "Talented beauty of Don ca tai tu"...

Ms. Le Thi Ai Nam, Vice Chairwoman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the First National Don Ca Tai Tu Festival - Bac Lieu 2014 said that the criteria of the "Talented Beauty Don Ca Tai Tu" contest in terms of appearance are similar to other beauty contests, but the difference is that contestants must understand and be able to sing or play Don Ca Tai Tu musical instruments.
“We have prepared and invited beauties aged 18-25 from all 63 provinces and cities. Anyone who is interested in Don ca tai tu, loves and understands Don ca tai tu can participate,” said Ms. Le Thi Ai Nam. The final round of the competition will take place at the Multi-purpose Gymnasium of Bac Lieu city on the evening of April 23 and will be broadcast live.
Also at the press conference announcing the first National Don Ca Tai Tu Festival - Bac Lieu 2014, Ms. Le Thi Ai Nam said that there are about 21 provinces and cities with Don Ca Tai Tu art in the East and Southwest regions and a number of guest provinces.
The opening art program of the Festival with the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing the art of Southern amateur music as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity will take place on the evening of April 21, 2014 at Hung Vuong Square, Bac Lieu city.
“The Don Ca Tai Tu Festival is a major cultural event of national and international significance, both to honor this unique art form and to provide a unique opportunity for Bac Lieu to introduce and promote the economy, culture, image of the country and people of Bac Lieu, and to attract investment,” affirmed Mr. Vo Van Dung, Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee of the 1st National Don Ca Tai Tu Festival - Bac Lieu 2014.
Mr. Vo Van Dung said that Bac Lieu province is currently speeding up the construction of the Southern Folk Music and Musician Cao Van Lau Memorial Site, the theater, Hung Vuong Square, etc. to serve the Festival.
