The mysterious figure who bought Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece "Savior of the World" for 450.3 million USD (more than 10 trillion VND) is a little-known Arab prince.

According to the New York Times, Saudi Arabian Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan al-Saud was the buyer of the painting at an auction last month.

The New York Times confirmed the information, based on documents it examined in the context of an investigation into the Saudi aristocracy. Prince Bader is not a famous art collector and comes from a rather distant branch of the Saudi royal family.

The record price of the painting has raised questions about who has been targeted or spared in the corruption crackdown in Saudi Arabia. In recent weeks, a number of royals have been detained in hotels across the country as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has launched a crackdown. Prince Bader was not a target.
