However, in some areas, it still recurs and has the potential to recur. For the first time, Nghe An has met to discuss and agree on a plan to protect unexploited minerals, demonstrating its determination to protect limited resources for the socio-economic development strategy, ensuring long-term resources and environment.

Presenting the draft plan to protect minerals in the province, Mr. Vo Van Viet - Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment emphasized that the issuance of the plan to protect unexploited minerals in the province aims to clarify the tasks and responsibilities of all levels and sectors, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of minerals, and promptly preventing illegal mineral activities.
The draft plan clearly states the unexploited mineral resources that need to be protected as well as some solutions to handle violations. Accordingly, the province will strengthen patrolling, control and strictly handle illegal mining, processing, transportation, storage and trading of minerals; regularly monitor mineral areas at risk of illegal mining activities.
Along with that, publicize a hotline to receive information from press agencies, organizations, and individuals about illegal mineral exploitation in the area. At the same time, resolutely and strictly handle the heads of local authorities at all levels if illegal mineral exploitation continues to occur in the area under their management.
It is known that nationwide, only 8 provinces have issued plans to protect unexploited minerals. Nghe An's meeting and agreement on a protection plan demonstrates the province's determination and great efforts to protect this limited resource.

Regarding this content, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong requested the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to receive the opinions of members, carefully review and complete the submission, and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee for signing and promulgation. In the process of editing and reviewing the document, it is necessary to pay attention not to leave any loopholes that create conditions for businesses and individuals to take advantage of. Along with that, the plan to protect unexploited minerals needs to be strict, with the view that minerals are a type of limited asset and most of them are non-renewable, so they must be managed, protected, exploited, used reasonably, economically, and achieve high economic efficiency./.
