Eleven artisans who practice and teach the Chau Van ritual have been awarded the title of Folk Artisan.

This event is part of the Second Northern Delta Chau Van Ritual Art and Performance Program. With the permission of the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, and under the patronage of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, the Center for Preservation and Development of Vietnamese Stage Arts is organizing the Second Northern Delta Chau Van Ritual Art and Performance Program to honor folk artists and mediums who have contributed to preserving, maintaining, and promoting the Mother Goddess worship culture of the Vietnamese people.

With its beautiful meaning deeply rooted in national cultural identity, highlighting the virtues of women through the image of the Holy Mother Lieu Hanh in the Tam Tu Phu system of the Vietnamese people, widely worshipped throughout the country in temples and shrines, from the lowlands to the highlands, the culture of worshipping the Mother Goddess has been recognized by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism as: "The Chau Van ritual is of the Vietnamese people."

Speaking at the ceremony, Meritorious Artist Tran Nhuong said that, following the success of the first event, the Center for Conservation and Development of Vietnamese Stage Arts is organizing the "Second Northern Delta Chau Van Ritual Art and Performance Program."

The program received significant attention from the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists, the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, the Department of Performing Arts, as well as the enthusiastic reception of a large audience.

Audiences enjoyed an artistic program and ritual performances of Chau Van singing featuring many renowned artists who had recently been awarded titles.

Folk artist Nguyen Tien Nghia - the head priest of Luu Phai Temple (Hanoi) - also expressed his gratitude to the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, as well as scientists and mediums, who have diligently researched over the years to give the cultural and religious value of Chau Van singing a certain position, to be recognized by state management agencies as an intangible cultural heritage of the nation, and is currently submitting a dossier to UNESCO.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Nghia also added that the awarding of titles by authorities to artisans who have made significant contributions is both an honor and a responsibility for the mediums in serving Buddha and saints, and preserving traditional cultural features.

Artisan Hoang Tien Hung (born in 1978, Phuc Tho district, Hanoi) shared: “Born and raised in a rural area that is a cradle for preserving intangible cultural traditions, I have heard many teachings from elders since I was young, which helped me practice the religion and become who I am today.”

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Folk Arts Association honored and presented commemorative medals to 11 Vietnamese folk artists in the field of Chau Van performance.
