Sing My Song - Best Song is a music reality TV show produced in the format of the UK's Sing My Song program. This is a competition exclusively for singers and musicians who want the opportunity to perform their own songs.

Launched on the night of November 21, Sing My Song has so far aired 3 episodes on VTV3 and has proven its special appeal as more and more professional and amateur singers and musicians have registered to compete.

The advantage of Sing My Song in attracting young people is its new format, appearing for the first time in Vietnam in a context where the entertainment market lacks competitions for composers, but has an excess of comedy and variety shows... especially after the program Vietnamese Song stopped broadcasting.

Not only do young music composers not have a proper playground to develop their talents, but music lovers also lack a channel to access new music products, even though they may not be perfect.

The strange thing about Sing My Song is that the coaching team is not famous stars like Mr. Dam, Thu Minh, My Linh, Ha Ho... but 4 musicians with 4 different styles, conquering the audience with their own talent, composing experience and ability to inspire and encourage the creativity of the contestants, contributing to lighting up the dreams of young musical talents.

They are musician Nguyen Hai Phong with his strengths in Pop-Dance, modern melodies and lyrics; musician Duc Tri is purely Pop-Ballad with passionate, lyrical compositions; female musician Giang Son aims for a variety of styles, from contemporary folk to R&B, Pop-Ballad and Blues Jazz on the foundation of romance and femininity; the very "peasant", very "dusty" musician Le Minh Son is "thick" with ethnic music materials, imbued with the soul of the Vietnamese countryside.

Sing My Song has attracted young audiences since the first episode aired on the evening of November 21. The independent singer from Thai Nguyen - Le Thien Hieu created a storm with the song "Ong ba anh" thanks to its cheerful, liberal reggae melody, familiar, everyday lyrics, conveying a message of sincere love.

Thien Hieu sang as if telling a story: “My grandparents loved each other when there were no cars/ My grandfather took my grandmother for a ride on the blue Thong Nhat iron horse/ My grandparents took each other to all the distant streets…/ Oh, love, in the past was so beautiful, my child/ The hastily written handwritten letters, the naive words on the lips/ And in those days, it was so simple, my child/ Just touching hands for a second, was enough to remember each other for a lifetime”…

The song conveys a meaningful message that true love always comes from sincere things, people should spend time in the real world instead of living in virtual space, modern technology cannot replace the moments of closeness together. After being broadcast, this song reached more than 19 million views on Youtube - a dream number even for many famous singers and musicians.

Episode 2 of Sing My Song aired on the evening of November 27th had another performance by contestant Pham Tran Phuong that also caused a stir with the song 0:00 - Khong Gio. As soon as Pham Tran Phuong's voice started, the audience was surprised and haunted by a strange melody, a genderless voice, sounding like a sobbing, like a girl's complaining voice in the night. Tran Phuong said that he wrote this song in a lonely mood when living far from home. The contemporary folk music, along with Pham Tran Phuong's strange voice, conquered all 4 coaches, forcing them to choose from the first verses.

The song received thousands of comments on the show's Facebook with endless praise.

Sing My Song has become more and more attractive to the audience. Along with familiar faces such as MTV, Hello Yello, Truong Thao Nhi, Tia Hai Chau..., 16-year-old Doan The Lan from Quang Ngai, who was a student of singer Lam Truong in The Voice 2014, brought the song Va Toi Di with R&B music genre, cheerful and meaningful lyrics with a "super cool" rap, making the coaches constantly excited in the hot seats.

Musician Duc Tri praised: “Your combination of harmony and melody is very smart and professional. For a composer, the most important thing is attraction, a point for listeners to remember and you have that”. Meanwhile, musician Le Minh Son affirmed, “this is the star of Sing My Song” and was determined not to lose a talent by promising to help The Lan become more masculine and stronger in his lyrics. And he turned the selection lever after only the first few lines of Doan The Lan's song.

However, in the end, this 16-year-old boy joined musician Nguyen Hai Phong's team because his style suited him and he was someone Lan had admired for a long time.

Sing My Song is attracting the public especially because of the side stories and personal stories of the contestants and coaches such as: contestant Ung Dai Ve's family's financial difficulties, having to sell his company and house, and stop singing; contestant Le Thien Hieu's transgender story... The media and organizers do not have to exploit the judges' "kitchen" stories because the contestants themselves and their works are strong enough to become topics that attract audiences.

It can be said that songs like Ông bà anh or 0:0 giờ, Và tôi đi… have surpassed the limits of a competition like Sing My Song to live independently in the music market. However, "long journeys reveal good horses", the best songs are still ahead, when there are still many talents who will continue to step onto the stage in the next episodes on VTV3./.
