Heroic martyr Ly Tu Trong's real name is Le Huu Trong, born in 1914 in Thailand, originally from Viet Xuyen commune, now Viet Tien commune, Thach Ha district.

In 1926, in Thailand, the young man was one of eight people selected by Ho Tung Mau on behalf of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association to send to Guangzhou (China) for training to build a communist organization in Vietnam later.

In late 1926, in China, leader Nguyen Ai Quoc changed Le Huu Trong's name to Ly Tu Trong and joined the "Young Pioneers of Vietnam" group. He was then sent to study and worked as a liaison for the General Department of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association in Guangzhou.

In mid-1929, Ly Tu Trong was sent back to Vietnam, assigned to liaise and mobilize young people to establish the Communist Youth Union in Saigon - Cho Lon. In February 1931, at a rally to celebrate the first anniversary of the Yen Bai Uprising, when the French colonialists arrived, Ly Tu Trong pulled out a gun and shot dead spy Le Grand to protect speaker Phan Boi Chau who was giving a speech at Laren Square. He was immediately captured, imprisoned and tortured by the enemy. Unable to extract secret information, the French colonialists opened a trial and sentenced Ly Tu Trong to death at the age of 17.
