Spreading the position of women

(Baonghean) - Interview with comrade Le Thi Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, President of Nghe An Women's Union on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union.

Reporter:The more developed society becomes, the more responsibilities women shoulder. Besides the role of “mother” and “wife”, most women today also assert their position in society. How do you evaluate the role and position of women in today’s society?

Comrade Le Thi Tam:That is true! The country and homeland are increasingly innovated and deeply integrated with the world; the Party's policies and guidelines related to women are supplemented and improved, creating opportunities for women to study, improve their qualifications and capacity, affirm their role, ability and creativity in all areas of family and social life.

Currently, women in leadership and management positions are exemplary, dynamic, creative, and have fulfilled their tasks well, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, government, and people. In addition to the achievements in all areas of social life, women are increasingly demonstrating harmonious family and social relationships, taking care of national and household affairs, taking care of building and protecting the family, and raising children well.

Reporter:It can be affirmed that the Women's Union is a reliable support for its members. So how has the union promoted that role in recent times? What is one of the most typical activities of the Women's Union at all levels in recent times, comrade?

Comrade Le Thi Tam:Performing the function of representing, caring for, protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of women members, and being a reliable support for women members, the association at all levels constantly innovates the content and methods of operation, unites and mobilizes women to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, and carry out local political tasks. The activities of the association at all levels are increasingly becoming more substantial.

Through movements and campaigns to support women to improve their capacity and qualifications in all aspects, and improve their material and spiritual life. The Association pays special attention to and cares for poor female members and those in particularly difficult circumstances. Through activities to support women in economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, humanitarian and charitable activities, the models of "Rice Savings Jars", "Savings Tubes", and the campaign "Building Warm Homes", since the beginning of the term, all levels of the Association have mobilized thousands of tons of rice, tens of billions of VND, and built 354 warm homes to support women.

One of the highlights of the innovation in the method of operation is that the union levels have chosen the focus, key points, and breakthroughs to prioritize, mobilize resources for direction and implementation. During the term, the Provincial Women's Union chose the breakthroughs: "Creating changes in the quality and effectiveness of mobilizing and supporting women to develop production, practice thrift, and reduce poverty sustainably" and "Improving the quality of union staff at all levels".

The highlight of the term is the model direction activities. For important and difficult tasks, the association at all levels builds models, focuses resources on direction, draws experience and replicates. The models successfully directed by the association at all levels include: "Propaganda, mobilization and support for women in religious and coastal areas to participate in economic development and sustainable poverty reduction", "Gathering and attracting members in religious, coastal and border areas", "Women self-manage the environment", "Women participate in protecting water resources", "Sorting waste at source, limiting the use of plastic bags", "Women join hands to build new rural areas", "Current affairs club", "Women with the law", "Women build happy families", "Women develop the economy to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty" ...

The success in directing the models has contributed to overcoming weaknesses and loopholes in the system, in organizing the implementation of movements and tasks. Since then, the association's activities have become increasingly clearer and more synchronous.

Reporter:To improve the quality of the association's activities, what tasks will we focus on in the coming time, comrade?

Comrade Le Thi Tam:In the coming time, the association at all levels will continue to mobilize resources to focus on clearly directing breakthroughs; successfully replicate pilot models; prioritize resources to direct movements in areas with a large number of religious followers, ethnic minorities, coastal areas...; review the targets and tasks set out at the beginning of the term to focus on directing implementation.

Direct all levels of the association to do a good job of preparing and organizing successful women's congresses, so that the association can increasingly meet the requirements of society and the wishes of female members, and contribute more and more positively to the cause of building the homeland.

The Party Congresses at all levels in Nghe An have been successful, and the Congress Resolution has set out new tasks for the next stage. Women's Unions at all levels need to focus on studying the Resolution, developing action plans for implementation, choosing tasks that are appropriate to the functions and tasks of the organization; and appropriate to actual conditions, so that women can actively contribute their efforts and intelligence to successfully implement the Resolution set forth by the Party Congress.

Reporter:Could you tell us about the activities of the Women's Union at all levels to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union this year?

Comrade Le Thi Tam:On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union this year, the unions at all levels organized many activities such as: reviewing the glorious history and traditions of the organization; honoring the contributions of women in all fields; organizing activities to honor union officials through the ages; visiting and encouraging female officials and members in difficult circumstances; many union bases also organized the "Warm and loving family meal" contest... all of these activities were aimed at the main theme of honoring women. The provincial Women's Union had a meeting with union officials through the ages; offering flowers and incense to commemorate heroic martyrs and planting memorial trees at the Truong Bon historical relic site.
