Land Rover launches luxury Range Rover SUV coupe
Nearly 50 years ago, Land Rover introduced the first Range Rover, creating the luxury SUV segment. Today, the company continues to define a new concept with the world's first full-size luxury SUV coupe.
At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show (Switzerland), the British luxury car company officially launched the all-new Range Rover SV Coupe. This Coupe was introduced to honor the value of the Range Rover models in the 70s.
Created by Land Rover Design and Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), the SV Coupé is a true Range Rover, and only 999 will be built.
In terms of design, except for the hood and the lower part of the rear trunk, the entire exterior frame of the 2-door Range Rover SV Coupe is new aluminum panels, including the front and rear bumpers.
The new two-part grille features a Brunel Metallic rear grille that continues the bright Chrome front grille and Satin Indus silver metal surround.
The pixel laser LED headlight system includes 144 LEDs and 4 laser bipolar lamps providing 5 times more light than conventional LEDs with automatic anti-glare headlight mode.
The SV Coupe’s interior is a modern space filled with light, with every detail taken care of to the maximum. The 20-way power front seats have heating and cooling functions, and the 10-way power rear seats are upholstered in special semi-aniline leather with a diamond-quilted pattern by a renowned tannery established in 1905.
Like the latest Range Rover, the SV Coupe features wider, thicker seat cushions with a multi-layer design for superior comfort, and three wood finishes are available for the steering wheel, door panels, centre console, dashboard and loadspace floor (Nautica, Natural Black Ash and Santos Palisander).
The Range Rover SV Coupe is equipped with the InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system including a 10-inch display screen, a 10-inch control screen and a 12-inch interactive driver display, a 10-inch color head-up display that provides operational information in turn.
The car also has Meridian's signature 1700w, 23-speaker 3D sound system with a 2-channel subwoofer that integrates 3D technology.
In terms of operation, the Range Rover SV Coupe uses a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine producing 565 horsepower, maximum torque of 700Nm, along with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with a rotary selector knob and paddle shifters. The permanent four-wheel drive system with a two-speed transfer case and an Active Locking Rear Differential function ensures the vehicle operates on all terrains, with additional support from the Terrain Response 2 system that programs Dynamic, Eco, and Comfort driving modes on different terrains.
The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and has a top speed of 266 km/h.
Compared to the standard Range Rover, the SV Coupe's ride height is reduced by 8mm to deliver more dynamic driving performance and improved aesthetics. The vehicle automatically lowers by 15mm at speeds of 105km/h or more to increase stability and fuel economy.
The specific selling price of the Range Rover SV Coupe has not yet been revealed by the manufacturer.
