After a vibrant 2016, the global music scene is anticipating 2017 with many special milestones. These include blockbuster music events, spectacular tours, and new musical releases from many beloved artists.

Taylor Swift was the highest-earning female star in the music industry last year. Beyoncé's younger sister 'escaped' her older sister's shadow with an album that dominated the American music scene. Teen girl group TBC: Not aiming to 'steal' the music industry. The first notable music and sports event of 2017 was Lady Gaga's performance at the Super Bowl in early February in Texas, USA. This will be the second time the 30-year-old star has participated in this prestigious event.

In 2016, Lady Gaga transformed from a rebellious singer into a formidable force. She made history by becoming the first artist to perform at three major events in a single year: the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards, and the Oscars.

Besides major music events, fans are also looking forward to the return of many big names and new musical releases. Ed Sheeran, Drake, and Katy Perry promise to make their mark in 2017.

In early January, Ed Sheeran released two songs, "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill," marking his return after more than two years without new music. The two songs from his upcoming album ÷ immediately set records on the music streaming platform Spotify, receiving over 6.8 million and 6.1 million streams respectively within just 24 hours of their release. This demonstrates the public's anticipation for the British star's third album, which he plans to release in March.

Another notable name that promises to continue making waves this year is Drake. More Life will be the first musical release from the Canadian singer in the coming months.

The past year has been a successful one for Drake, as he became the first artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify with "One Dance." The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 10 consecutive weeks and also won numerous major music awards.

In addition, audiences are seeing the return of many names in 2017, such as the popular band Maroon 5 and the interesting vocalist from New Zealand, Lorde.

Besides new albums, prestigious music events and awards, fans are also looking forward to performances by their favorite artists, including the tour of the British nightingale Adele. On February 28th, the 28-year-old singer will arrive in Australia, her next stop on her world tour to promote her hugely successful album 25.
