Phu Luong Vegetable Village (Quynh Luu): Receiving VietGAP certification

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 14, the Nghe An Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management coordinated with Quynh Luong Commune, Quynh Luu District to organize the awarding of VietGap certification in vegetable production to Phu Luong Cooperative.

Attending the event were Mr. Tran Huu Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Duong Van Hung, Head of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management.

Every year, the vegetable production area of ​​Phu Luong Cooperative produces and sells to the market from 400 - 500 tons/year.

Phu Luong Safe Vegetable Production Cooperative, Quynh Luong Commune currently has 64 members, with a vegetable cultivation area of ​​10 hectares, produced in Dong Nac Am area. Products produced according to VietGap standards of the Cooperative are mainly vegetables of all kinds, cabbage, kohlrabi, carrots, tomatoes, cauliflower, and green onions.

During the implementation process, Phu Luong Cooperative received specific and scientific guidance from the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Management and Nghe An Fisheries.

The Department also organizes training on vegetable growing techniques for farmers, instructs them on keeping a diary from the stages of land preparation, fertilization, care, types of seeds used, fertilizers, pesticides at the right time, dosage, time of use until harvesting. Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management of the province visited the vegetable production area according to VietGAP standards.

On December 11, 2015, the vegetable production model according to VietGap standards of Phu Luong Cooperative was evaluated and recognized by the working group of the Center for Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Quality Region 1 for producing vegetables meeting VietGAP standards. The certificate is valid from December 9, 2015 to December 8, 2017.

Also at the ceremony, Tam Nguyen Agricultural Investment and Development Joint Stock Company signed an initial product consumption contract within a scope of 2 hectares.
