Leaders of 4 European countries visit Ukraine, Russia sets conditions for temporary ceasefire
Leaders of Britain, France, Germany and Poland have arrived in Ukraine to discuss a ceasefire. Russia has set conditions for a temporary truce, saying it wants to end the conflict.
According to Pravda, on May 10, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk went to Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The five leaders later had a phone call with US President Donald Trump, to discuss a ceasefire to facilitate peace talks.
"We call on Russia to agree to a full and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days as proposed by the United States, in order to advance negotiations for a just and lasting peace," the four European leaders said in a joint statement.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that President Zelensky and four European leaders had a "productive" dialogue with President Trump.

“Ukraine and its partners are ready for an unconditional ceasefire on land, air and sea for at least 30 days, starting on Monday. If Russia agrees to the conditions and ensures effective monitoring, this process could pave the way for peace talks,” Sybiha said.
Earlier, President Trump also called on both Russia and Ukraine to "work to end the conflict that is killing 5,000 soldiers every week".
Russia sets conditions for temporary ceasefire
According to TASS, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov gave an interview to ABC News on May 10, stating that Russia is ready for a temporary ceasefire if the West stops providing military aid to Ukraine.
"President Putin is doing everything possible to resolve the issue, to reach an agreement through peaceful and diplomatic means. But what are you going to do with the arms shipments that are being sent to Ukraine every day? We want the parties to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine," said Mr. Peskov.
According to the Kremlin official, Russia supports the implementation of a 30-day ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict, but only if the parties properly consider the aspects of the conflict.
"We hope that the role of US President Donald Trump will make the Kiev regime flexible and politically wise," Mr. Peskov said.
