According to figures posted on the website of the Central Election Commission of Russia, the incumbent leader of Russia, Putin, won 87.34% of the vote, with 98% of the ballots counted. In second place was the candidate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Nikolay Kharitonov (4.28%), followed by the candidate of the New People's Party Vladislav Davankov with 3.85% of the vote and the candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Leonid Slutsky (3.15%).
Also according to TASS news agency, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said that the Cuban leader congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on winning the 2024 presidential election and hoped that the relationship between the two countries would be even stronger in the future.
"We sincerely congratulate President Vladimir Putin on his re-election. This demonstrates the Russian people's recognition of his leadership. We will continue to strengthen relations between Cuba and Russia in areas related to the well-being of our people," the official wrote on his personal page on social network X.
Earlier, Mr. Putin received congratulations from Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, among other leaders.
