Party and State leaders visit Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen
General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong led a delegation of the Party Central Committee to visit the Commander of the Truong Son troops.
From 7:30 a.m. on April 10, the funeral of Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen - former member of the Politburo, former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers was held according to the State funeral ceremony at the National Funeral House, No. 5, Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.
The funeral committee consists of 23 members, headed by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Flower baskets were placed in front of the portrait and on the coffin of the Truong Son Commander. Although the funeral did not begin until 7:30, many veterans and comrades had come to the funeral home since early morning to prepare to see him off.
General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong led a delegation from the Party Central Committee to pay their respects. The delegation's wreath bore the words "deeply mourning Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen". The delegation included Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and many other leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.

After burning incense in memory of Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong slowly walked around the coffin and warmly held hands with the general's family members to share the pain of loss.
After the visitation, the memorial service for Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen will take place at 12:30, the procession will take place at 13:15, and the burial will take place at 17:00 at Vinh Hang Cemetery, Ba Vi, Hanoi.

Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen passed away at 11:42 a.m. on April 4 at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 96.
His real name is Nguyen Huu Vu, born in 1923 in Quang Trach, Quang Binh; he joined the revolution in 1938 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam a year later.
During the resistance war against France, he was a representative of the General Command, participating in many campaigns. During the period 1954 - 1955, he was in charge of the return of prisoners of war. After that, he held many positions such as: Deputy Head of the General Logistics Department; Commander of the Truong Son Corps (1967-1975); Deputy Minister of National Defense; Commander and Political Commissar of the Capital Military Region. In 1974, he was promoted from colonel to lieutenant general.
During the period 1982 - 1991, he served as Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Transport.
In 1991, he resigned from the position of Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers and was appointed as a special envoy of the Government to implement the 327 program "planting and protecting protective forests"; participating in directing the construction of the Ho Chi Minh trail.
Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen was awarded the Gold Star Order, the First Class Military Exploit Order, and the 80-year Party membership badge.
