The funeral of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh began at the Hai Phong City Convention Center at 9:00 a.m. this morning (August 24).

To express condolences and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of comrade Le Van Thanh, on August 24, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a funeral for comrade Le Van Thanh with the rites of a State Funeral.

Deeply mourning comrade Le Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, the delegation of the Party Central Committee led by Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai came to pay their respects to comrade Le Van Thanh and offer condolences to his family.

FUNERAL OF COMRADE LE VAN THANH
The Central Party Secretariat has decided to establish a State Funeral Committee consisting of 23 comrades; headed by comrade Le Minh Khai, Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Prime Minister. Comrade Le Van Thanh's coffin will lie at the Hai Phong City Convention Center, No. 18 Hoang Dieu, Hong Bang District, Hai Phong City. The visitation ceremony will be held from 9:00 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2023 (July 9, Quy Mao year) to 7:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023 (July 11, Quy Mao year). The memorial service will be held at 7:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023. This will be followed by the funeral procession and burial ceremony on the morning of Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the hometown cemetery of Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.

Comrade Le Van Thanh, born on October 20, 1962; hometown: Tan Lien Commune, Vinh Bao District, Hai Phong City; permanent residence at 217, Lach Tray Street, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City; joined the work in February 1988; joined the Party on June 24, 1997; Member of the Party Central Committee, 12th and 13th terms, Member of the Party Committee of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister; former Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hai Phong City; Delegate of the 12th National Assembly. He was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, National Emulation Fighter and many other noble medals and orders by the Party and State.
After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, professors, doctors and family, due to serious illness, he passed away at 20:20, August 22, 2023 (July 7, Quy Mao year) at his home, at the age of 61.
