German Green Party Leader: Donald Trump Even Sees Enemies in the European Union
The European Union is weak in foreign policy, - said Annalena Baerbock, Chairwoman of Alliance 90/Green Party, in an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel.
This is largely due to US President Donald Trump “pursuing a policy of isolation and intimidation,” Ms. Baerbock said. “Trump just wants to destroy the international system,” the leader of Germany’s left-wing party declared.

Ms. Baerbock also complained that things became more difficult when she was in the same military bloc as the United States.
“For decades, the United States has been concerned about Europe’s security. But now Donald Trump even sees an enemy in the European Union,” said the chairman of Alliance 90/Greens.
In particular, this is why the German Green Party, which received a majority of votes in the recent parliamentary elections in the country, supports closer cooperation between European countries in the field of defense policy, Ms. Annalena Baerbock explained.
“As soon as wars and crises break out in the world, Europe will be able to take care of its own security. And a good basis for this will be pan-European military cooperation. In this case, it will be more effective and not so expensive. We Europeans spend four times more than Russia on the army and yet are still behind them in combat readiness,” the German politician complained.
