Hungarian leaders highly appreciate Vietnam's position.

During his official visit to Hungary from July 28-31 at the invitation of the Hungarian government, Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan met with and attended a reception hosted by the Acting Speaker of the Parliament, Istvan Jakab; held talks with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen; visited the Paks Nuclear Power Plant and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics; visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Hungary.

During the talks and meetings, Hungarian leaders highly appreciated the socio-economic achievements that Vietnam has made in recent years, especially the relatively high economic growth rate in the context of the global economic crisis; and highly appreciated Vietnam's position in the region and the world.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan expressed gratitude for the immense support and assistance that the Hungarian Government has given to the Vietnamese people in their past struggle for independence as well as in the current national construction and development; affirming Vietnam's consistent policy of valuing the development of traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Hungary.

The traditional friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Hungary has developed very well in recent years, but there is still much untapped potential. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Hungarian leaders exchanged views and agreed on measures to promote mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, especially in the areas of economy and trade, investment, human resource training, energy, culture and tourism, and sports. Both sides agreed to continue maintaining high-level exchanges and exchanges between ministries and sectors to further promote cooperation in specific fields.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan thanked Hungary for considering Vietnam a priority partner in its international development assistance (ODA) policy; affirming that Vietnam is ready to create favorable conditions for Hungarian businesses to strengthen trade and investment relations with Vietnam.

Both sides agreed to encourage businesses from both countries to make direct contact and participate in trade fairs and seminars to better understand each other's needs and potential, thereby fostering cooperation. Both sides highly appreciated the results of the 4th session of the Vietnam-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation (held in October 2012 in Hanoi), emphasizing the need for active coordination in implementing the session's outcomes to develop practical cooperation projects for the benefit of both countries and to further enhance the effectiveness of this cooperation mechanism in the future.

Hungary affirmed its commitment to further strengthening educational and training cooperation with Vietnam and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese students to study there. During the visit, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement between the two governments on training human resources in the nuclear field for peaceful purposes, under which the Hungarian government committed to providing 40 scholarships annually to Vietnamese students.

Both sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation and mutual support in multilateral forums and international organizations. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan thanked Hungary for its commitment to supporting Vietnam's candidacy for the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2013-2016 term, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2016-2018 term, and the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term.

Hungarian leaders highly appreciate the Vietnamese community living and studying in Hungary. Both sides agreed that this is an important bridge and a foundation for promoting friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Science and Technology Tran Viet Thanh, and Education and Training Tran Quang Quy also held separate working sessions with Hungarian counterparts to discuss specific cooperation contents such as implementing the recently signed educational cooperation exchange program, clarifying some contents in the Agreement on Cooperation in Training in the field of atomic energy for peaceful purposes to be signed during the upcoming visit of the President to Hungary, expanding cooperation in science and technology, agriculture and processed food, and finding ways to promote the implementation of projects using Hungarian ODA funds...

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan's official visit to Hungary was a great success, contributing to further strengthening and promoting the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary in the future.
