Numerous leaders from various cultural sectors, artists, and students came to pay their respects and bid farewell to People's Artist Dinh Quang with deep sorrow and reverence.

On the morning of July 16th, the funeral ceremony for People's Artist Dinh Quang took place at the Ministry of National Defense Funeral Home in Hanoi, presided over by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The passing of this master of Vietnamese theater was somewhat sudden, as despite his advanced age, his mind remained sharp. In early July, during a family trip to Da Nang, he unexpectedly fell ill, was hospitalized for emergency treatment, and passed away there in the early morning of July 13th.

My Linh's daughter wept silently at her father's funeral.

Despite trying to remain calm to ensure her father's funeral was conducted properly, editor My Linh couldn't hold back her grief. With tears welling up in her eyes, she collapsed onto a chair and wept as she looked at her kind father's face. Earlier, during her time caring for her father in Da Nang, she shared her feelings for him on her personal page: "What I love most about you, Dad, is that you never asked anything of your children. You only agreed to go out after much persuasion, and whatever you bought for me was always something small and pretty... Don't ask if I'm tired, and don't say, 'Let me help you, Dad, I'm bothering you too much!' I'll definitely go back to Hanoi, Dad."

Mrs. My Hanh, the wife of People's Artist Dinh Quang, wept uncontrollably during the farewell ceremony for her husband. Her grandchildren kept running to hug her, offering both comfort and solace in the loss of their beloved grandfather.

The grief of the family of People's Artist Dinh Quang was shared by state leaders at all levels. Mourning the loss of a man who contributed greatly to the national theater and culture, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang sent wreaths to pay their respects. Deputy Minister Huynh Vinh Ai commented on the late's contributions: "People's Artist Dinh Quang has gone down in the history of Vietnamese theater as a scientist, a talented director, a towering figure of the theater. He was affectionately called 'Teacher Quang' by many... Throughout his life, he loved and wholeheartedly cared for the progress of art, guiding countless artists. His lectures became exemplary teaching materials. As a deputy minister, he was dedicated and honest."

Many leaders and managers of the country's cultural sector, such as former Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Lam Phuong Thanh, Mr. Le Tien Tho (former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism), Mr. Vuong Duy Bien (Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism), Mr. Le Chuc (Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists)... came to respectfully offer their condolences to the master artist.

State leaders, family, and artist students mournfully escort the coffin of People's Artist Dinh Quang to his final resting place.

Passing away at the age of 87, People's Artist Dinh Quang had few friends of his generation left, one of the few remaining being Professor Vu Khieu. Arriving early to bid farewell to his friend, the 99-year-old professor could not hide his emotion. He wept and recalled the years of friendship with Dinh Quang. Although a generation apart in age, the two professors had shared more than half a century of close friendship, comradeship, and collegiality. Professor Vu Khieu, with tears in his eyes, said: "How can I express the depth of my grief at this passing?"

Dinh Quang's students, from the South to the North, from those with gray hair to those with youthful hair, gathered to mourn their teacher. The students of 1960-1964, now of advanced age, have all grown up and hold important positions in the national theater, such as People's Artist The Anh, People's Artist Doan Dung, People's Artist Bui Dac Su, and Meritorious Artist My Dung... From the South, artists Doan Dung, The Anh, and Tra Giang came to light incense and bid farewell to their teacher in Hoa Binh as he was laid to rest.

As a student of the first graduating class of the School of Dramatic Arts, People's Artist Doãn Châu choked up, saying, "Since the day he passed away, memories of him have come flooding back like a slow-motion film. Having been close to him since 1960, our generation benefited from his profound knowledge, wisdom, and dedication. Teacher Đình Quang gave me my entire theatrical career and nurtured my family's happiness." People's Artist Doãn Châu said that since retiring, he and his classmates often met with him, going on outings together to many places across the country. "If it weren't for this terrible event, we would have arranged to welcome him to meet us today – July 16th. But time and the laws of life spare no one..."

Although he wasn't directly taught by Dinh Quang, People's Artist Hoang Dung always considered him a master in his profession. With emotion, the Director of the Hanoi Drama Theatre recalled the times he interacted with him, learned from him, and performed in plays directed by him. "Teacher Quang was a leader at the Ministry of Culture and frequently attended plays. After each performance, he gave me insightful feedback. Many of my colleagues and I grew from those detailed, rigorous, yet constructive comments. Teacher Quang was not only a great cultural figure but also an outstanding art critic, and that's why."

Mr. Truong Nhuan visited Dinh Quang with profound gratitude. For the Director of the Youth Theatre, Dinh Quang was a benefactor. In 1980, when Truong Nhuan had just graduated from university, he faced difficulties due to social circumstances. Dinh Quang, understanding his situation, with his great character and kindness, vouched for him and accepted him as the youngest lecturer at the University of Theatre and Film. Through many ups and downs, now as the head of a prestigious and dynamic theatre in the capital, Truong Nhuan deeply appreciates Dinh Quang's contributions. He confided: "His compassion, along with his constant teaching of younger generations to strive for success and believe in the beauty and goodness in life, created a great character and personality. I know I will forever be indebted to him."

The funeral ceremony for People's Artist Dinh Quang was scheduled to take place from 7:30 to 9:30, but due to the large number of students who came to pay their respects, it had to be extended until after 10:00. His coffin was then loaded onto a vehicle to be taken to Lac Hong Vien Cemetery in Hoa Binh for burial.
