(Baonghean.vn) -On January 17th, representatives from the provincial leadership, various departments, and localities visited and extended New Year greetings to officials, soldiers, and people in the province.

* On January 17th, Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Inspection Committee - visited and extended New Year greetings to the staff of the Martyrs' Family Care Home in Dien Chau and to policy beneficiary families and elderly people in the district.

The delegation extended New Year greetings and presented gifts to Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Nha Truong, who are both living to be 100 years old, in Dien Minh.

The delegation visited and presented gifts to Ms. Truong Thi Em, 112 years old, in Dien Thap, and Mr. Nguyen Nha Truong, 102 years old, in Dien Minh; visited and extended New Year greetings to Mr. Tran Quang Vien, a disabled veteran with particularly difficult circumstances in Dien Nguyen; and two veteran revolutionary cadres: Ms. Vo Kim Ngan in Dien Lien and Mr. Nguyen The Long in Dien Phong. The delegation also visited and inquired about the health and living conditions of 32 relatives of martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers at the Martyrs' Relatives Care Home in Dien Chau, and presented gifts and New Year greetings.

The units, families, and policy beneficiaries expressed their joy and emotion at the concern shown by the Party, the State, the Party committees, and the local authorities, and pledged to uphold and promote the glorious revolutionary traditions to contribute to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland and country.

On this occasion, the Dien Chau District Party Committee and People's Committee also presented gifts and certificates of longevity from the President of Vietnam to elderly men and women in the locality.

* On the afternoon of January 17th, a provincial delegation led by Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Department - visited and extended New Year greetings to officers, soldiers of the armed forces, and people of Quy Chau district.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong and his delegation visited, presented gifts, and extended New Year greetings to the officers and soldiers of the Quy Chau District Military Command and the Quy Chau District Police. On behalf of the provincial leadership, Comrade Nguyen Van Thong commended the efforts of the Quy Chau district police and military forces in ensuring local security and defense; and their significant contributions to the development of the province. Extending New Year greetings to the officers, soldiers, and their families, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Department expressed his hope that the officers and soldiers of Quy Chau district would continue to uphold their traditions and fulfill the tasks entrusted to them by the Party and the people.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong expressed his hope that the two families would continue to promote livestock production, serving as exemplary role models for the people of Quy Chau district to learn from in poverty alleviation and improving their lives.

On the afternoon of January 17, 2014, with the sponsorship of Intemex Company in Nghe An, representatives of Nghe An Newspaper presented a gift worth 1 million VND to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Hamlet 4, Nghi Truong Commune, Nghi Loc District.

Ms. Le is in a difficult situation; her husband passed away early, but she still works hard to raise her two sons through university. Although the gift is not large, it is a very timely source of encouragement for Ms. Le's family and her two sons during the Lunar New Year. Through Nghe An Newspaper, Ms. Le sends her sincere thanks to the departments, agencies, and organizations that have carried out many meaningful activities to support disadvantaged families, including her and her sons.

On the morning of January 1st, leaders of the People's Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee, and representatives of various organizations in Vinh City divided into five groups to visit and present gifts to exemplary policy beneficiaries, war veterans, disadvantaged children, and units working in the field of labor, war invalids, and social affairs.

The collective units that received gifts from the city's leaders included the Center for the Care of War Veterans, the Center for the Care of Mentally and Neurologically Injured Soldiers, the Center for the Care of Severely Injured Soldiers, the Association of the Blind, the Nghe An Vocational Training Center for People with Disabilities, the SOS Children's Village, the City's Social Labor Education Center, the City's Vocational College of Economics, Technology and Industry, and 50 policy beneficiaries, war veterans, mothers and wives of martyrs, and children in difficult circumstances in 25 wards and communes.

On January 16-17, the My Ly Border Guard Station, in coordination with the authorities of Bac Ly and My Ly communes (Ky Son district), organized a visit for a delegation of private businesses from Doi Cung ward, Vinh City, to donate 100 gift packages worth 130 million VND to poor households in remote areas (85 packages in Bac Ly commune and 15 packages in My Ly commune).

Each gift package, valued at 130,000 VND, included: a cotton blanket, a cotton mattress, fish sauce, cooking oil, plates, pots and pans, instant noodles, notebooks, and candies. At the same time, the My Ly Border Guard Post received 200 cotton blankets, 50 fleece blankets, and many new warm clothes from the "Hanoi Charitable Organization and Brothers," worth approximately 35 million VND. The unit will coordinate with the local authorities of the two communes to distribute these gifts to the people before the Lunar New Year. These are extremely meaningful gifts for poor households as Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches.

Hung Phong

To support the poor, orphans, and people with disabilities so they can enjoy a warm and joyful Lunar New Year, on the afternoon of January 17th, the Nghe An Provincial Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, in coordination with the Do Luong District Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, presented gifts to 60 orphaned and abandoned children at the Nghe An Provincial Social Work Center (in Luu Son commune, Do Luong district). The gifts included 50 sets of warm clothes, 200 notebooks, 200 pens, and dozens of boxes of powdered milk, with a total value of 10 million VND.

Furthermore, from now until the Lunar New Year 2014, the Nghe An Provincial Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, along with other associations of small and medium enterprises in the province, will donate 2,650 gift packages to the poor, orphans, and victims of Agent Orange in districts, towns, and cities throughout the province, with a total value of over 1.3 billion VND. This money was contributed by small and medium enterprises throughout the province to share and help those less fortunate in life to enjoy the spring and celebrate the Lunar New Year fully.
