Provincial leaders inspect the agricultural production situation.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 23rd, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected the spring crop production situation in Hoang Mai town and the districts of Quynh Luu and Dien Chau. He was accompanied by representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

To date, the entire province has completed planting over 89,000 hectares of rice, reaching 104% of the plan. Currently, the rice is in the tillering stage, growing and developing well. The area planted with peanuts is about 16,000 hectares, and corn about 15,000 hectares; farmers are continuing to plant to reach the set plan of 17,000 hectares of corn and 17,000 hectares of peanuts. Vegetables and legumes have been planted on 7,000 hectares. After inspecting the actual situation, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed localities to focus on implementing measures to continue planting according to the set plan, concentrating on care from the beginning of the season; in particular, regularly investigating, detecting, estimating, and accurately forecasting the occurrence and damage of pests and diseases to guide farmers in timely prevention and control; managing and operating the irrigation system to provide sufficient water for crops, especially rice, but paying attention to water conservation and efficiency. Inspect, review, and balance water resources, develop drought prevention plans for cultivated areas under their management, and be ready to respond when drought occurs. Regularly check the water situation on the main canals and at the pumping station's suction basin to ensure good growth and development of crops.
