Provincial leaders inspect agricultural production situation

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 23, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the spring crop production situation in Hoang Mai town and Quynh Luu and Dien Chau districts. Up to now, the whole province has completed planting more than 89 thousand hectares of rice, reaching 104% of the plan. Currently, rice is in the tillering stage, growing and developing well. The peanut planting area is about 16 thousand hectares, corn is about 15 thousand hectares, people are continuing to plant to achieve the set plan of 17 thousand hectares of corn and 17 thousand hectares of peanuts. Vegetables and beans have been planted on 7,000 hectares. After inspecting the actual situation, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed localities to focus on implementing measures to continue planting according to the plan, focusing on care right from the beginning of the season; in particular, regularly investigate, detect, estimate, and accurately forecast the occurrence and damage of pests and diseases to guide farmers in timely prevention; Manage and operate the irrigation system to provide enough water for crops, especially rice, but pay attention to using water economically and effectively. Check, review, balance water sources, develop drought prevention plans for cultivated areas under the management unit, be ready to respond when drought occurs. Regularly check the water source situation on the canals and at the pumping station's suction tank, ensuring good growth and development of crops.
