(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 5, during the working program in Laos, the delegation of Nghe An province led by Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Xieng Khouang province and visited the Plain of Jars relic site.

The delegation included: Colonel Phan Dai Nghia - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Industry and Trade, Provincial Border Guard Command, Department of Foreign Affairs, Provincial Police, Department of Health.

Receiving the delegation, on the side of the leaders of Xieng Khouang province (Laos), there were comrades: Bunchan Sivongphan - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary, Provincial Governor; Nobiha Tongpao - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; along with comrades of the provincial leaders and leaders of departments and branches.

Comrade Bunchan Sivongphan - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Governor of Xieng Khouang province happily welcomed Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades in the delegation of Nghe An province to visit, work and celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year in Xieng Khouang province.

Speaking at the reception, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province expressed his pleasure to visit Xieng Khouang province, especially Phonsavan town with rich cultural and revolutionary traditions. At the same time, he sent greetings from Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Secretary Thai Thanh Quy to the Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Provincial Governor of Xieng Khouang province.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province also sent New Year greetings on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay Festival to the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Government Committee, Lao Front Committee for National Construction, officers and soldiers of the armed forces and all the people of Lao ethnic groups in Xieng Khouang province, wishing them a New Year filled with joy, happiness and success.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung also hopes that, not only on this special occasion, but the two provinces will have more opportunities to exchange, discuss and visit each other to further strengthen the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos and between the two provinces of Nghe An and Xieng Khouang.

On the same day, a delegation from Nghe An province led by Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited the Plain of Jars relic site in Phonsavan town, Xieng Khouang province (Laos).

The Plain of Jars (Thong Hay Hin in Lao) is a cultural and historical relic area near Phonsavan town, Xieng Khouang province, Laos. This is the third world cultural heritage of Laos recognized by UNESCO on May 14, 2019.

The Plain of Jars is scattered along the Muong Phuon Plateau in Xieng Khouang Province (Laos). 59 locations contain about 2,000 jars dating from 1,500 to 2,000 years ago.

The stone jars are half submerged and half floating on the ground in the tourist area. The jars are on average 1 - 2m high, some are up to 3.5m high, and weigh tens of tons. Most of the jars do not have lids, some are above ground, some are partially submerged, the mouths of the jars are elliptical, square, or round... The Plain of Jars is home to more than 2,000 stone jars of various shapes and sizes, dating from around 2,500 BC to 500 AD. The Plain of Jars is a complex of 11 separate sites containing ancient stone jars located in the Paek, Phaxay, Phoukoud and Kham districts of Xieng Khouang province.

Stone jars are scattered in many places in Xieng Khouang. However, currently only 3 locations around Phonsavan town have been put into tourism exploitation: the first location has about 300 jars, the second location has 100 jars and the third location has more than 100 jars.

Immediately after the Plain of Jars was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage, the Lao Government stepped up propaganda and promotion activities to let Lao people and friends around the world know about this unique cultural heritage. Thereby, attracting more and more tourists to visit and experience Lao culture, contributing to economic development.

During the visit and working program in Xieng Khouang province, Nghe An province leaders are expected to have talks with Xieng Khouang province leaders; celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year; offer flowers and incense at the Laos - Vietnam Joint Fighting Cemetery; offer incense at the Vietnam - Laos Martyrs' Shrine; visit the regrouping team and team K and attend the hand-tying ceremony organized by Xieng Khouang province.
