Leaders of Nghe An province offer incense and flowers to pay tribute to heroic martyrs in Quang Tri

On the afternoon of July 16, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024), the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery and Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery.

Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation as head of the delegation.

The delegation included members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Pham Trong Hoang - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee; Nguyen Nam Dinh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Bui Thanh An - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Major General Bui Quang Thanh - Director of the Provincial Police Department.

Representatives of leaders of units: Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Provincial Party Committee Office, Provincial People's Committee Office, Provincial Border Guard Command, Provincial Youth Union, Provincial Veterans Association, Provincial Women's Union, Provincial Labor Federation, Provincial Farmers' Association.

Arriving at Gio Linh district, the delegation of Nghe An province offered flowers and incense to commemorate 10,263 heroic martyrs resting at Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery; of which, there are 1,297 martyrs from Nghe An.

In the sacred atmosphere, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy and the delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense to express their deep remembrance, gratitude and honor to beloved children across the country, as well as the children of Nghe An who heroically sacrificed their blood and bones on the Truong Son roads for the cause of national liberation.

Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery is a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, of the spirit and will to fight for independence and the aspiration for peace of our people; a red address in the journey of gratitude of people across the country according to the tradition and noble morality of the Vietnamese people "When drinking water, remember its source".

Next, the delegation of Nghe An province offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the National Martyrs Cemetery on Road 9, Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province.

The cemetery is the resting place of more than 10,800 martyrs who were main force soldiers, local soldiers, militia and guerrillas, and youth volunteers who fought and served on the Route 9 front and in Laos during the resistance war against the US, including about 200 martyrs from Nghe An.

On this occasion, on behalf of the delegation of Nghe An province, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy presented gifts to the Management Board of Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Management Board of Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery.

During the nation's long resistance wars, along with the whole country, Nghe An had tens of thousands of outstanding children joining the army, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers on all battlefields.

Nghe An is one of the three provinces in the country with the largest number of families of people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs and war invalids, with 65,147 families of people with revolutionary contributions, including about 29,619 war invalids and people enjoying policies like war invalids, 9,051 sick soldiers and about 13,000 people infected with Agent Orange.

The whole province has more than 45,000 martyrs who heroically sacrificed; more than 56,000 wounded and sick soldiers left part of their blood and bones on the battlefield.

With the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", paying special attention to the families of martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers and people with revolutionary contributions, along with economic and social development, Nghe An province always cares and determines the task of implementing policies for people with revolutionary contributions as both sentiment and responsibility, a very important political task.

Therefore, along with the correct, sufficient and timely implementation of the regimes and policies according to the regulations of the Party and the State, the Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels are very active, proactive, closely coordinated and launched many movements and campaigns to have more resources to provide better care, support and pay more attention to policy families and families of war invalids and martyrs.

The most typical ones include the campaign for the whole province to participate in the "Repaying gratitude" Fund; taking care of Vietnamese heroic mothers; caring for and supporting families of seriously wounded soldiers and parents of martyrs who are still facing many difficulties; helping families of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to overcome hunger and reduce poverty...

From the mobilized resources, the province has built and repaired 16,000 gratitude houses, awarded nearly 24,000 savings books to families of people with revolutionary contributions, and all Vietnamese Heroic Mothers have been taken care of.

The province has built, upgraded and repaired more than 1,000 cemeteries, memorials and steles recording the names of heroic martyrs; at the same time, directed the implementation and collection of more than 14,000 remains of volunteer soldiers who died in Laos for burial, including burial at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemetery.

On the occasion of July 27 this year, according to the plan, the whole province will visit and give gifts to nearly 96,000 policy families, meritorious people in difficult circumstances, with a total budget and socialized amount of over 30 billion VND.
