In 2024, Nghe An province has allocated a budget to renovate and embellish the graves of martyrs from Nghe An and Ha Tinh who are resting at the cemetery.

According to the Geneva Agreement on July 20, 1954, the Ben Hai River located on the 17th parallel in Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province was taken as the temporary military demarcation line between the two regions of North and South Vietnam. On August 25, 1954, the Vinh Linh land north of the Ben Hai River with an area of nearly 800 km2become Vinh Linh Special Zone under the Central Government.

Since then, during the resistance war against the US, Vinh Linh was the frontier land of the socialist North, the place name associated with Hien Luong Bridge, Ben Hai River, the place that witnessed the pain of dividing the North and South, the place known as the "steel land". Every inch of land here is soaked with the blood of many outstanding children who fell for the independence and unification of the Fatherland.
